Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Identical twin of former Brave minor leaguer Roddery Munoz who is with four teams since the Braves' waived him July, 2023. Had a miserable 2024 season with the Marlins: In 18 games (17 starts) 2W/7L, 1.58 WHIP, 6.53 ERA/7.19 FIP, 4.6 BB/9. Big fastball, but 4.6 BB/9 was his minor league rate as well, so control is the problem.

Rolldy's minor league stats look a lot like his brothers. Walk rate is slightly better. Hasn't pitched above AA, but he showed enough last season to get a spot on the 40-man roster. I will leave it to Deester11 to comment on how both brothers performed live. I trust that he's probably seen them pitch in-person.

Seeing they are identical twins, I always thought the Braves should have kept them both and given them the same uniform number, kept one of the guys hidden from view, and switched them on a daily basis.

😂😂. I'm always cautious of 2 pitch pitchers that are inconsistent in the zone. Both brothers sit about 95 consistently but that's where consistency stops. They have arm talent but I've always hated pitchers that seem to "whip" the ball. They both do it.

That said, I do like Roddery's arm enough, but I've honestly been "meh" more times than not. I like the arm side run of his FB and he can get away with it high in the zone, but not enough to scare mlb hitters. We've seen the type plenty and unless he develops some form of command, he'll have plenty of seasons like last year. Have we heard that before?

Baseball savant should tell us tomorrow if he was really 98.

Waldrep's avg FA velocity was 96.8, so he did dial it up. The problem is the 11.8" of vertical movement and 1.1" of arm-side run. It's flat and straight, and isn't going to be a viable pitch at the MLB level.

For comparison, Sale's is also flat at 11.7", but has a massive arm-side run of 15.3".

Schwelly' rises 15.3" with a little wiggle at 4.9".

I just don't see any way Waldrep plays as an MLB pitcher with that kind of stuff, and there's no way this is new information. Maybe he can switch to a sinker/cutter/split guy?

Nothing new in this article. But I do think Cease and/or King are moved before opening day.

MLB insider Bob Nightengale seemingly confirmed the rumors are indeed true as president of baseball operations A.J. Preller is still open to dealing either pitcher before Opening Day.

"It remains unknown whether Cease or King will still be with them on opening day," Nightengale wrote. "Ultra-aggressive GM A.J. Preller continues to listen to trade offers on Cease and King in ways to shed payroll while still remaining competitive."

He probably over played his hand. Only way I see them getting traded before opening day is if there's an injury to some teams ace. Hoping AJSS has a big game today

The Mets wouldn't surprise me.. I doubt the Braves unless SD really drops the ask.

If Strider had a set back of any kind I could see them doing it. Holmes and AJSS have looked good so far so there isn't as big of a rush right now. I'm really surprised they cut Waldrep after 1 inning though.

I'm not. That FA doesn't play at the MLB level.

How many people let this get past them? From Fanatics execs to MLB execs.

Congrats you now made a collectors item.
