This team is HORRIBLE!

I like the "just a slump" crowd. The offense has stunk all year, it was just masked by an elite performance by the pitching staff. When the pitching staff falls back to Earth...and they all will...this team will be lucky to be a .500 team the rest of the way.

It's really not that hard of a fix. I don't think it can overstated the handicap putting two wind mills at the top of a lineup has on a team. Someone, anyone, (cough LaStella cough) who can get on base and work a count needs to bat lead off. Then some contact hitter capable of laying down a bunt (Simmons?) should bat 2nd. Simmons would likely see better pitches batting there and raise his OBP and Average. Move Heyward and BJ down where they, Gattis, and Justin can either strike out or homer with some men on base and maybe Freeman may actually get an RBI when he gets a hit.

Poor Chip on the radio must have said "Vogelsong gets away with a hanger" no less than 8 times tonight and the game isn't over yet.

You wanna put your money where your mouth is?

Please take the bet. Please.

I'll grant that the offense has been frustrating to watch so far. I'll take TLS any day, and I've been at least a lukewarm Uggla backer.

But to the "oh no teh offense" crowd, I'd say this: This team was 4th in the league in runs scored last year. Sure, Lord BABIP is not likely to repeat last season, but what other spot in the lineup do you genuinely expect to be worse in 2014 than in 2013?

So, yeah. Just a slump.

Lets get everyone who thinks this team is bad on record so when we win the division we all know who the bandwagon fans are. People who quit on the team before cinco de mayo should not get to share the fun when times are good.

Spectacular idea.

Perhaps another sweep or two will step up the timetable on this. I do think if they make a move (which I've been advocating for a couple weeks), it should be swift and bloody. Don't sit Dan on the bench to brood, as he's done the last two years in September. Designate him for assignment, deal him for any carbon-based life form. Pack his **** for him while the game's still going on. Have it on the truck to go to his swank Buckhead penthouse. Move on. Thanks for the work, Dan, now take your $40m and hit the bricks. We'll mail the rest of your checks.

I think we're damn good and I'm glad Frank is more patient than I am, but I'd like to see some ****ing runs while I'm still young enough to process them.

Then your not who I am talking about. Predicting a sub .500 finish when we are in first should be an automatic ban. 17-12 is a fantastic start to the season.

Then why haven't the Braves advanced in over ten years? Clearly they are doing something wrong.

Because the first round is equivalent to about 2% of the season. In basketball a 7 game playoff is almost 10% of the season and football 6-7%. Baseball is like having a marathon to qualify for a sprint. There is a reason wild card teams did disproportionally well in the playoffs. We could build for the playoffs but then we probably wouldnt even make it in the first place. Those reasons plus some bad luck. Also because baseball is the only major american sport without a salary cap so the braves being an efficent organization is trumped by a bad organization that can outzpend them 2-1. If the braves had a 200 million payroll they would win a world series every 2 years.

So then how did the Marlins win their rings?
