Javy Lopez Tested Positive For Steroids

For that 45-HR season back in 1999, I do not close the door on the possibility. Just because he wore a Braves uniform doesn't close that door. There are several former Braves on that list, after all. These guys are human, not myths.
iirc, 1999 was also the year that Chipper changed his approach at the plate from the right side (thanks to Don Baylor's coaching). Prior to then, Chipper showed virtually no power from the right side, and teams would try to turn him around to hit from that side for the lack of power. In 1999, he found his power from that side of the plate, catapulting him to an all-around power hitter and took his career to the next level. That's how I remember that year with him anyway.

The fact that he never got close to 45 again makes me suspicious. I can't blind hero worship somebody who is only nine months older than me. My last baseball hero was Glavine.

You don’t have to blind hero, worship somebody to not accuse them of being a cheater lol

And he hit 36 and 38 the next 2 years. It’s not like he was hitting 10 homers a year then became babe ruth

He hit 36 in 2000 and 38 in 2001. He wasn't 1996 Brady Anderson.

Can I sit here and promise you to a metaphysical certainty that Chipper never used steroids? Of course not. It was a pretty steroid-suffused era. Juan Cruz apparently tested positive and he was rail thin. Alex Sanchez was the first player ever suspended for violating the PED policy and he hit six career home runs. Trying to guess who used based on body type or spike seasons is a fool's errand.

Considering Olson can't do anything but chop the ball to second base now, I'm wondering.
I think MLB was feeding the braves juiced balls in 2023. I watched a ton of games that year and it was amazing how many balls just carried out that when seen off the bat you thought no way thats going out but they did. This year and last year I see the same hits but they are landing 10 feet short of the wall now.

If there was any team MLB was trying to give an advantage to, I can promise you it wasn’t the Braves.
