Some Personal Thoughts On Brian Snitker

Some hopefully rational thoughts here.

As I mentioned before, I’ve been very patient with Brian Snitker. I’m a fan that has been, with the exception of Mike McCarthy, I’ve been patient with coaches. But there come a point when the patience wears thin. That time for me has arrived with Brian Snitker.

Tonight was one of his worst. Pinch-hitting Eddie Rosario for Eli White was head scratching to say the least. And not only that, didn’t even ask how Spencer Strider’s bullpen session went. That’s incredible, and not in a good way. All this added to the Kelenic deal and Ronald Acuna’s reaction to it and Snit barely saying anything about it. Starting to get the sense not just the game has passed him by, but it seems he’s just sitting there the dugout and nothing else. It’s tough to see as a Braves fan.

The past several seasons, Snitker has gotten a pass. I don’t have that sense anymore. He has gotten more criticism in a season that I ever remember. Guys like David O’Brien and Mark Bowman have been questioning more than I ever remember. National guys like Ken Rosenthal, who I think is one of, if not the most credible, reporters in MLB, has voiced criticism of how the Kelenic deal was handled. Even tonight, Barrett Salee posted on X if anyone would question him about the decision to pinch hit with Rosario. When a guy on the team’s radio network is outwardly questioning, that grabs attention.

Now, I do believe this is Brian Snitker’s final season. I’ve believed that since last season ended, bases solely on this being the final year of his contract. Would letting him go now make a difference? I don’t really know the answer to that. Because if the Braves did that, the interim manager would either be Eddie Perez or Walt Weiss. I wonder how different their style would be from Snitker. It will make a potential interesting off-season. I would hope the Braves would look outside the organization. Seen Alabama football stay in the “family” before, and the results haven’t always been the best.

This was the peak of Snit's ineptitude. Every single person in the world knew osario was the wrong choice. He should not even be in the majors. Then to explain your reasoning as trying to "recreate some old magic." Send his ass to the retirement home.

I hope that AA has accepted that this team isn‘t among the top contenders this year, so he‘s giving Snit his ride into the sunset in what is a lost cause anyway.

And I really, really hope that the search for a replacement is already underway, and doesn‘t include the usual suspects.

Punting this season just to not hurt snit's feelings is dumb. Acuna and strider will be back soon, and this team has played well since the horrid start. If we have a better option on the bench than snit, pull the trigger... the braves owe him nothing.

Rocco Baldelli is high on my list to replace Snit. He's an analytical manager that gets a lot respect around the league. The Twins seem likely to move on from him unless they can turn it around. While he hasn't exactly overachieved with the Twins, the Twins have cut payroll for 2 straight seasons. And their best players also can't seem to play more than 100 games a year. It's hard to manage a roster under those restrictions.

AA should come out on the mound tonight when twit makes his pitching change and take the ball from twit and motion to Sorryio to take over. Make twit take the walk of shame off the field to a chorus of boos. Then when Sorryio is standing on the mound as the new manager motion To the pen and call on perez to replace Sorryio. Don’t even let sorryio walk to the club house. He has to go through the stands and out the fan gates so he can be boo’d the whole way to his car. Perez can be manager for the rest of the year and at least make the Latin contingent happy.

He should absolutely not finish the year IMO. He’s a disaster and actively hurting the team’s chances of winning. You don’t punt a year over a goddamn manager

The issue is, the roster when Strider and Acuna come back is going to be very solid.

If Snit is canned, and we get Weiss or Perez as interim, the roster is talented enough to go on a big run and make the interim guy look good.

Then we're stuck again.

This isn't 2016 where our roster was clearly in the dumps and in rebuilding mode. If the roster gets hot under Snit, then just pray they can overcome Snit in October yet again.

If we have an early exit, then he can bow out gracefully since he hasn't been extent yet and we can start fresh. If we capture the magic as he said, then let him ride it on the way out.

While I agree, the options to replace him immediately are Weiss and Perez. And since this team is super talented, we will likely still make the playoffs regardless of who the manager is. We might even make it out of the 1st round if SS squared and Sale are all healthy. And then we are basically forced to hire Weiss or Perez as Snit's replacement even though they did virtually nothing to improve the team.

LOL great minds and all.

I totally get those sentiments. But the front office has to be smart enough to know that no matter what, you look for a manager this offseason. That’s a solvable problem. Keeping Snitker isn’t.

Realistically, that just isn't going to happen. If we make the playoffs, the players will rally around the interim manager. And the optics would look bad moving on form that manager.

We are still likely to make the playoffs at this point.

As much as we are all fed up with Snit and want him gone they won't do it in the middle of the season. AA has probably already started the search and that will be handled this offseason. I just hope they go outside the organization

No way you let this parasite finish the season. He has been sucking on the blood of this org for 50 years hiding in the shadows and too dumb to ever really get a legit shot. Just hung around long enough for someone to finally say. Of let’s move him up because reasons. Now is the time to show him the door. Hire Perez with specific instructions that this is only interim and coaching search will be conducted regardless of how the team finishes.

If AA can’t handle that then replace the whole front office down this winter and start fresh that way. Anyone who continues to extend this idiot deserves to lose their job.

Just bc an interim does well, doesn't mean you have to hire him. Or perhaps an interim will embrace analytics more and actually not be a weight around our neck.

That’s inexcusable then. There are zero toddlers involved in this. We are talking about grown adults. If you can’t handle doing what’s best for the team then get out? Like this isn’t complicated.

I mean, a manager doesn't have to be all worldly to be effective.. just understand or be willing to understand analytics of the game, that you can give guys a day off and still win, don't make it harder for you team to win, and stand up for your players when they need it or don't throw them under the bus even if they deserve it. If the interim manager can handle these things and does well enough to warrant an extension... then fine by me.. Twit has never been able to do any of those things not even when the team won the WS...
