Since the World Series in 2002, he's had talented rosters and not made it back to the World Series.

Artie gave him a huge payroll compared to us, and he's still not won anything.

So crazy that so many people get mad at Fredi for not producing results but the Angels have way more resources than us and Scioscia hasn't won much of anything.

Tough guy "man's man" BS. He's an okay manager. Most managers are okay. There's the rare sh*thead like Ray Knight who gets to manage, but most everyone comes up through the same system and has seen (and as a result manages) the same game.

Bob Melvin or Terry Francona (who I originally wanted over Fredi) would top my list, although for obvious reasons, they aren't going anywhere.

Out of the realistic options, I wouldn't mind giving Dave Brundage a shot.
 
I'd go with a coach that's good but hasnt been around mlb before

I hated the Freddi hire. Someone said at the time of Freddis hire (KLaw, almost sure)'said Freddi was a bad hire because the Braves hired one of Thier own guys who knew the system and how the braves operated.

You have to look outside for fresh perspectives and different ways of analyzing. Braves did the opposite and are getting the same results.

I'd go with a good college coach. A good coach can coach regardless of the level of competition.

Except Francona has actually won with those veteran teams. Two WS rings in fact. Sure he had a higher payrolls, but high payrolls don't guarantee success, as the Angels, Mets, and Dodgers clearly have shown.
 
Braves made the playoffs for 14 straight years... made the postseason 3 out of 4 years...

I'm inclined to think since nearly every team except the Yankees weren't as consistent year in and year out as us that we've been doing something right.

Our postseason failures are from choking and umpire help. Infield fly, Wohlers, Chipper '12, Conrad, Carpenter, Erig Gregg etc.
 
If you want to use the niners logic and take:

2 World Series and every other season crappy since creation

Or 1 WS in 14 straight division titles and 3 playoff appearances in 4 years I know which team I take.

Marlins haven't won in 11 years, before that 6 years. Meanwhile we've been relatively competing and have been one of if not the best regular season teams in that 17 year stretch.

We've been one of the best organizations from top to bottom for almost a quarter of a century now. It's really sad some of you can't appreciate that.

Only a Braves fan would realize that this is criticism. There are at least 25 MLB teams that would take exactly what we've gotten the last 25 years. An amazing statement.

Complacency is the enemy of success.

The fact that we've been competitive is hardly a reason to be pleased with coming in 2nd place (or more recently, 7th or 8th place.)

I'm pretty sure it was those teams and not Francona that won those two rings. People put too much stock into what a manager can actually do.

Complacency didn't win 96 games last year. So much of what we're talking about and around these days is the simple fact that the Braves are stuck with an underperforming player and an awful contract. When the Braves bite the bullet and move on, it will be like a breath of fresh air.

I want an EX MLB player, with MLB heavy coaching staff. Really like what LA, Arizona and the Nats are doing with coaches who have been there before.
