I or hope AA wouldn’t trade a DH and a catcher plus for another DH that costs a heck of a lot of money. The plus could have been Kelenic and his dog and it still would have been a dumb trade. Up there with the Murphy trade. Braves need to rid the black holes not just replace a producing DH for another DH.
And I would have fired you on the spot if I was your boss.
Just go get Kyle Tucker in the off-season if you want a hitter. Even if Boston simply put him on waivers, and all we had to do to get him was to pick up the contract, I would still pass him up. Paying an overweight DH 245 million until he is 37 is a terrible idea.

It's actually A LOT worse than what Riley is owed. Over 70 million worse. And Riley is actually useful on defense.

I wonder if Profar shows out the rest of the year, that would change the FO mind on going after another outfielder of Tuckers ilk. I just don't see them wanting to move Acuna to full time DH...

Acuna isn't a horrible defender. He needs to be in RF on most nights. But he certainly needs to get a breather at least once a week at DH. Especially in day game after a night game situations. Getting an OF/DH to rotate around would be ideal.

agreed..But Tucker is a full time OF.. he is good defensively.. Harris is too good defensively to not be in the OF.. so that leaves Profar as your primary DH and he probably sucks without his ball shrinking juice.. So is Profar an expensive 4th OF and Murph/Baldwin DH primary.. or do you spend on pen/SS/bench and roll with Profar/Acuna/Harris OF and forget about Tucker... Keep in mind that 2nd base might also have to be addressed, but maybe Nacho can eat some wheaties and hit the ball harder than 80 mph.
Profar is a horrible defender and would be the one that needs to be the primary DH.

right.. but Profar as a DH is, well, uninspiring. maybe dude can catch fire the rest of the year and he could be unloaded for the cost of his deal.

I am not holding my breathe that AA actually balls up and pays someone competitive price.. I predict the Braves will be mentioned a whole lot in having interest.. and there will be "leaked" posts of deals being worked out.... but we will get the benefit of watchin Allen and some more dumpster diving signs fill the roster for "value"

everyone is still living off the juiced ball 2023 year. There is a legit 4 below replacement level hitters in this lineup everyday. The others are way to streaky or banged up, but won't be given some days off to heal... Acuna is the only consistent good hitter on this team now.
The "juiced ball" bit in 2023 is looking more and more like a myth if you look at the data.

He won't repeat what happened this past offseason after the year we've had. He'll double down and actually surprise us and spend big this offseason. They got below the tax for a reason and with the CBA up in the air this is the offseason to spend.
