2025 Trade Deadline Thread

Scouting is a combination of risk and reward. FV mixes both which is oil and water.
Ok, tell me your projection system and the massive years of history for it. FV being wrong 1.5 years ago on a guy eroded its credibility, so I’m intrigued to learn about your perfect system.

We better not see him the rest of the season in a lost year. Legitimately no reason to waste mileage on his arm at his age. Sit this one out and come back in April at full strength. I would rather not see Schwelly return this year either (and we probably won't with that injury)
There's no way sale sits this season out.

What would it take over the next 13 games to flip into buyer mode? 12-1? 10-3? Getting to within 3 games of a WC spot?
10-3 at minimum I would think. That would put us 3 games under .500 and somewhere around 5-6 games back of the last WC.

I suppose it could happen if Ozzie and Harris suddenly remember how to hit. Or Riley goes on a tear and has like 8-10 homers over the next 13 games. But I find the likelihood of any of that happening to be very slim.

Even if the offense goes crazy, there's no starting pitching left

Speaking of starting pitching, sorta pisses me off that despite drafting nothing but pitching, we have to talk about acquiring starting pitching every year.
Waldrep not hitting killed it. The rest of the high end pitching was younger and needed time to mature... and the fact that the Braves have no medical staff that can keep a pitcher healthy.

FV is wrong about almost everyone. Using FV for players on the verge of the majors is fine but FV for kids in rookie ball is retarded. And I dont need anyone elses projection system. Its reallt not that complicated. Read a few scouting reports and look at the key indicator stats and I bet you could guess what FV fangraphs would give them.

AJSS having TJS really hurt us this year. But in the drafts that we have focused more on pitching (2020-2024), we've produced Strider, Schwelly, AJSS and Elder as valuable contributors (some more than others). I would say that is a solid hit rate. And from the 2022 class, we have Ritchie and Burkhalter knocking at the door.

Also, Owen Muprhy was well on his way to being our number 1 prospect last year before TJS. People forget about him, but he could get into the rotation conversation before July of next year.

Half the roster are pitchers. and their shelf life is whats butt fucking us. They have actually developed quite a few good SP.
