2025 Around The League Thread

in an ideal world he's probably best out of the bullpen anyway. he's ok as a fifth starter, but his results fall off a cliff the second time through the order. first time through the order though he pitches like someone a competitive team could trust to be a high leverage reliever.

If its not a full tear then he should get the brace. He could still be back early next year.
He is planning on being back without surgery or a brace. It sounds like a grade 2 tear, so surgery isn't necessarily required.

If he had chose the brace procedure, he'd probably be down till at least June of next year.

Dan Hayes of the Athletic wrote that both the Braves and Mets were interested in Buxton at the Trade Deadline but he told teams he wasn't interested in leaving Minny.

I know Buxton obviously lives in Minny now, but he grew up just a couple of hours outside of Atlanta. A little strange he didn't want to play here.

What would we even have offered them? With as well as he has played, it couldn't have just been a salary dump.

A deal for Buxton and Varland would have fed families

Man.. just saw some around the league news.. The Yankee$ just optioned Bird (deadline trade) to AAA and the Cubs put Soroka on the 15 day IL with shoulder tightness.

I think Soroka, Acuna and Riley were made from the same glass company in the Brave's minor league system.

I know AA has a boner for Buxton but he's seen the amount of injuries we've had over the past 3-4 years and he really tried to acquire the most injury prone guy in MLB? And he would have probably put us over the luxury tax this year to boot unless he was trying to get Minnesota to eat the money this year.
