2025 Around The League Thread

I know AA has a boner for Buxton but he's seen the amount of injuries we've had over the past 3-4 years and he really tried to acquire the most injury prone guy in MLB? And he would have probably put us over the luxury tax this year to boot unless he was trying to get Minnesota to eat the money this year.
or AA’s goons are putting out fake stories about him once again almost doing something before ultimately doing nothing again

Would be kind of strange for AA to have a goon who was a beat writer covering the Twins.
but anyone can send out rumors into the social media world and let them take life of their own.. This could have been a call AA made and the Twins guys said, Nah.. I don't think Buxton wants to leave and that was the extent of the conversation. We knew there was going to be leaks after the deadline that AA almost did something.. but like I said a day before the deadline.. it was all going to be smoke to cover for him not doing anything.

So now we get to see Ozuna ride the bench for a few months because AA didn't want to dump a salary.. think about that one for a second.

He said they were pursuing him aggressively. You can’t just put that out there as a beat writer without having a source on the inside confirming it.

Dan Hayes of the Athletic wrote that both the Braves and Mets were interested in Buxton at the Trade Deadline but he told teams he wasn't interested in leaving Minny.
There was a blurb on the sports news last night that Buxton--who has a no-trade clause until after the 2026 season--would have vetoed any trade. There was no comment beyond that as to whether the Twins actually tried to move him. They moved almost everyone else, so I wouldn't be surprised if they thought about moving Buxton as well.

Buxton is a superb athlete, but he gets banged up a lot. I don't know if anyone here has read Philip Roth's The Great American Novel about a fictional baseball team, but in the story there was an outfielder who could never comprehend the reality of the wall (the character was modeled after former Brooklyn Dodger Pete Reiser who was constantly running into the wall). Buxton is the same way. He doesn't get a particularly good jump on the ball, but he's so fast he can run a lot of balls down despite that (think Kenny Lofton). The problem is, he is going full speed and can't seem to navigate the warning track and fence as a result. Has played more than 100 games only twice in his 10-and-a-half years career (2025 will probably be the third). But when he's on the field, he's exciting and talented. Stick him in RF and Harris could probably shade about ten yards into left-center.
