GDT 8-25: Striding in Miami

Braves have now scored the 3rd most runs in the division, are only 18 behind the Mets for 2nd and are tied for 7th overall in the NL. That’s with having the 3rd worst mark in the NL for the first half of the season and being dead last in the division.

Safe to say that had our pitching not gotten slaughtered with injuries (partly AA’s fault for not acquiring a proven starter in the off-season like we pounded on the table for), we’d be in the playoffs right now and even in a race for the division.

I still contend that if the Braves had a manager that was not 90 years old veggie, they would be much much closer to contending. No way Sale gets hurt. might argue with a guy who actively rests players, Riley is still healthy and we already know twit has no clue how to set a lineup, not play players when hurt, knows what the word leverage means.. etc, etc, etc..

While it’s fair to blame injury woes on bad luck, the reality is Strider was coming back from a 2nd elbow rebuild, Sale ended the season with a bad back, Holmes was a converted BP arm, and Lopez had multiple arm issues.

Anyone claiming this pitching situation came out of nowhere is a fool.

and the same, if not more going into next year.

Strider is still a 2 time elbow guy who hasn't shown ability to pop 98
Sale is still made of glass
Schwelly has a broken elbow, that could easily lead to a spur and need to be scoped
Lopez is missing a shoulder and hasn't thrown all year
JJ is missing a leg and hasn't thrown all year
Holmes is just prolonging the inevitable
Waldrep is Waldrep until he shows this for a longer period.
Elder... puke
AJSS won't be back next year

There is a ton of work to be done.

Yep, and nearly this entire board was cautioning it loudly. And there were good additions to be had that wouldn’t have put us over the tax. Sad that AA couldn’t see the obvious.
