2025-2026 offseason thread

Not guys at his position.
Marcell Ozuna and Jurickson Profar, if we’re talking AAV.

It’s a dumb, unfounded assumption anyway with no basis in reality. Unless Acuña’s legs completely fall off, he’s going to get a 2nd contract. And there is no precedent from Acuña or any other MLB player getting upset about someone else’s contract.

Of course I could be wrong... I don't know him personally. Still though, Acuna seems to be a guy that could take it personally. He's already been told to stop running. Now they're bringing in a guy that will be pushing him to DH a whole lot more, and oh yeah, they're paying him more. I can see him getting upset over that. He thinks every pitcher that pitches inside is out to hurt him. And on top of it all, he's had issues with snit before. He could take this as the braves trying to push him to DH, which would hurt that 2nd contract.

My God, I've put waaaayyy too much thought into something that will not happen. Hurry up Thursday, so I can get back to football

Interesting that other teams have been having their GMs speak to the media for end of season press conferences, but we haven't heard anything out of the Braves yet.

Because there hasn’t been a decision in Snitker. AA always does a conference/interview after the season. I expect this one to be no different once Snit is decided on.

Agreed. That may be a good thing bc Snit may be hanging it up.

I think AA reset the tax to spend big this offseason before the lockout. Bellinger I think is completely in play bc of his versatility. Like has already been said we can't have a De La Cruz situation. Profar would be the odd man out in a Bellinger deal bc he would be the weakest link in the field.

If they move profar or Harris, I think Bellinger is possible. I just don't see the braves adding a 4th OF at a big price tag. I would love to be wrong

I think AA is gonna be on the hot seat this offseason. If he has another stinker it could be his last.

He just signed an extension through 2031, so he’s gonna be around a while.

I suspect McGuirk feels indebted to AA for stepping in after the Coppy scandal and immediately righting the ship.

If you think AA is on the hot seat you don't understand his job. His job isnt to win games its too make money. And they made more money this year. So by their standards he is doing a great job. Beyond that he shouldn't be fired. I disagree with many moves and non moves but firing good people because yoi are mad the team didn't win enough is a good way to be a perennial basement dweller. Gms with job security can make long term moves. GMs on the hot seat make short sighted trades to save their job temprorarily.

I wouldn't say he is making the team money. The battery is a cash cow and anybody could make money with it. McGuirk is handling all of that stuff not AA. AA has had 2 shitty offseason in a row while wasting 2 more years of the core he builts prime years. If he has another shitty offseason he should no doubt be on the hot seat and I'm a huge AA supporter.

The offseson after 2023 was not shitty.

Bro he missed the playoff one year out of 8

Well his job is to fill seats, and the Braves drew nearly 3 million fans again. I highly doubt he is on the hot seat. There doesn't appear to be any pressure to win in Atlanta.

Acuna is likely going to DH more often regardless who we bring in and how much money they make. That's what happens to guys with 2 surgically repaired knees. And I think Acuna running less was probably a mutual decision there. Injuries and rehab take a large toll on players mentally. It's largely the reason Andrew Luck retired from the NFL.

Again, it's not really a 4th OFer situation. We were already looking at Buxton a little over 2 months ago. It's blatantly obvious that Profar is a poor defender and that Acuna likely needs to DH more often to help keep him healthy. Ideally, we would rotate all 4 OFers enough so that none of them start over 150 games in the OF, with Profar getting the least amount of starts (less than 60).
