Joe Ryan would be my pick. He has 3 years of arbitration left but it all depends on cost. I'd hate to trade Richie being so close and Caminiti but you have to give to get. I wouldn't trade them both but 1 of them would have to go or Waldrep and I'd sell high on him if that's who they wanted.

IF the Braves are targeting Lehman he would have let let them know to move on if that was the case. He has a relationship with AA and wouldn’t hold him hostage if he was next up in LA. If Roberts wants to retire and he was the succession plan they all already know it.

Exactly. It's not like we are asking for some tactical mastermind. All this team needs is a guy who uses the right BP arm in the right spot, doesn't let a SP at 90 pitches face the top of the order a 3rd time, understands someone with a .307 OBP doesn't bat 2nd, and it's ok to give guys a day off when a bench player has the platoon advantage. None of this is rocket science.

I never got the sense Snit was some great leader of men either, unlike Cox. All he did was let everyone do whatever they want. Literally anyone can do that. A real leader gets guys to pull in the same direction, inspires them to make changes for the better, and isn't afraid to hold guys accountable.

I agree. I think if Lehmann was gonna be taking over for the Dodgers next year he would of let AA know and they could have moved on and it does look like something is holding it up and that's the only logical explanation. The Orioles and Giants have already named their guy.

But it's possible that if Roberts is indeed planning to retire, he hasn't revealed that to anyone yet.

I think they would be fine losing a pick for a long term contract dont want to give it up for a 1 year deal. But I also doubt their willingness to add big FA contracts. Also durability for pitchers is an illusion. We supposedly went after Nola for his durability. You see a durable starter I see someone who is due for TJ. Buxton isnt a stranger to injuries himself. We cant build a team assuming everyone gets injured. If our injury luck repeats we are just screwed. We need to build a playoff team. The best playoff teams are top heavy with less depth. They are teams starting Elder quality guys in the 5th spot. Its a big weakness but its eliminated in the playoffs. If the NBA removed the 3 point line for the playoffs we wouldnt build a team whose strength is shooting 3s.

Ronald shouldn't want to anyways bc he's 3 years from a big contract. 1 more serious knee injury and he could be done.
