2025-2026 offseason thread

Realistically, losing a draft pick due to the QO is the one thing that makes me think we’d target someone like Bassitt, Gallen, or Merrill on a one-year deal, or pivot to trading for a guy like Pablo López, Joe Ryan, or Mitch Keller.

I’d admittedly love someone with high-end upside and proven durability like Cease, but I don’t see them going north of $28M a year and losing a pick.
Joe Ryan would be my pick. He has 3 years of arbitration left but it all depends on cost. I'd hate to trade Richie being so close and Caminiti but you have to give to get. I wouldn't trade them both but 1 of them would have to go or Waldrep and I'd sell high on him if that's who they wanted.

I don't think the Dodgers wanna see Lehmann leave and it would force their hand with Roberts but I don't see him retiring right now and there's no reason to let him go. Lehmann has to be the reason the Braves haven't announced anything I'm guessing. Hopefully that's their guy and we get him
Roberts has already hinted at retirement.

Roberts has already hinted at retirement.

IF the Braves are targeting Lehman he would have let let them know to move on if that was the case. He has a relationship with AA and wouldn’t hold him hostage if he was next up in LA. If Roberts wants to retire and he was the succession plan they all already know it.

All we are looking for in a manager is someone that can keep the clubhouse together and have enough analytical sense to win at the margins when necessary. That’s literally it.
Exactly. It's not like we are asking for some tactical mastermind. All this team needs is a guy who uses the right BP arm in the right spot, doesn't let a SP at 90 pitches face the top of the order a 3rd time, understands someone with a .307 OBP doesn't bat 2nd, and it's ok to give guys a day off when a bench player has the platoon advantage. None of this is rocket science.

I never got the sense Snit was some great leader of men either, unlike Cox. All he did was let everyone do whatever they want. Literally anyone can do that. A real leader gets guys to pull in the same direction, inspires them to make changes for the better, and isn't afraid to hold guys accountable.

I agree. I think if Lehmann was gonna be taking over for the Dodgers next year he would of let AA know and they could have moved on and it does look like something is holding it up and that's the only logical explanation. The Orioles and Giants have already named their guy.

But it's possible that if Roberts is indeed planning to retire, he hasn't revealed that to anyone yet.

No kidding

My kids will like me more than their mom if I let them stay up and eat candy, but that doesn’t make me a good parent

In my view there is no reason a reasonably big market team like the the Braves should base their offseason around preserving their second draft pick.
Only way it would be worth it is if they got somebody like Tucker. Anything around the edges would t be.
