2025-2026 offseason thread

And yeah Keller makes a ton of sense as long as he AA isn't making him our big S addition. His ability to potentially start should be looked at as an added benefit (like Holmes) and not the primary plan.

I still think a Kenley Jansen reunion makes a lot of sense if we're willing to let him be the primary closer. But he might be wanting to go somewhere where he can be the primary closer so he can get his 500 career saves. Only 24 away currently.

Pete Fairbanks would be fantastic. So would Drew Pomeranz.
 
Honestly, pretty useless information if you ask me. AA knew that Diaz was going to cost the draft pick before even coming to the meetings. The cost was going to be known regardless. So why invest the time if you weren't willing to do the price? I can't wait until spring training when he has done nothing to improve the team and says "well we had a lot of conversations, one of which would have cost us a pick, and ultimately we decided against it. But money wasn't an issue." Of course money is no issue if you can't commit to spend it!

This isn’t wrong. We knew this already about the pick
 
Diaz would be here for multiple years where Iglesias is probably gone after next year and I doubt Diaz would have been the set up man. AA was probably willing to go to 20 but out of those 3 teams bidding we were 3rd no doubt.
 
We knew AA wasn't gonna lose that pick bc they are hard to come by. AA will spend at the mid tier FA isle and make a trade. Keller is making the most sense bc he can start or relieve and Suarez would be my top target for the bullpen arm. It's shaping up to look like a Kim reunion and that's good news. Boras is gonna over play his hand again there and I think he comes back.

I'm sure there was a dollar value and/or contract length for Diaz where it would have made sense in AA's mind to give up the pick. It's fair to assume that AA should have known Diaz wasn't going to sign for that amount, but I guess we can't blame him for shooting his shot and hoping the market undervalued Diaz.
 
Can’t be mad at the Dodgers for actually spending their money. Teams and owners have money. Not all are willing to spend it. The dodgers are. And LA, I hear, is a terrible place where no one would want to live or do business so can’t be the market.
 
We're all understandably skeptical after last off-season, but I think the most important takeaway is that multiple reporters are saying the Braves are very aggressive in the pitching market, they've made offers for players, and that they're even considering losing the No. 26 pick to get better. We didn't hear shit last year. So excuse me if I have even a slight bit of hope that AA is going to make the moves necessary to improve the team.

I get it. And I understand i'm being a whiney bitch. But after last season, the "we tried" excuse just doesn't do it for me

I'm totally with you, man. It's extremely frustrating that we have so many holes that could have been managed had we given a shit last year. But, they have a shot to do some work now and let's hope they do.
 
AA did say he'd rather lose a draft pick than a prospect. I do believe he was after Diaz and he probably made an offer to Cease also. Bassitt, Suarez, and Kim would be a pretty good offseason and the money should be there. It'd be nice if we could add Jorge Polanco in there too.

Miss state offers guys all the time, but they offer less than the rest of the sec, so none come. AA is turning the braves into miss state
 
Jorge Polanco seems like a decent pick up for SS. Probably not great on defense, but the bat plays, and we can use Dubon for late inning defensive replacement. Had no QO attached and will probably command around $17-18m/year over 3 years

I mean last year the Braves made offers to Tanner Scott and Jeff Hoffman and still didn’t end up doing anything.

He is a primary DH who cant stay healthy playing the field.
