Jorge Polanco seems like a decent pick up for SS. Probably not great on defense, but the bat plays, and we can use Dubon for late inning defensive replacement. Had no QO attached and will probably command around $17-18m/year over 3 years

He is a primary DH who cant stay healthy playing the field.

He can play a few spots in a pinch on the infield but mainly 2b and 3b. I'd still be cool with him bc his bat plays well anywhere.

I kind of expect AA to look for upgrades over Kim so he doesn’t have to leave that spot open while Boras drags things out. With my track record, that probably means Kim re-signs today.

That Seagar contract is pretty brutal though. I get Texas would probably be willing to eat at least eat some of the cost, but paying him 31 million when he is 37 doesn't seem like a good plan. I'd rather trade for Trevor Story if we're going with the buying a bad contract route.

I'd probably be fine taking it on at this point though. At that point, it may not matter much

Seager is going for it while they still have Acuna. After he leaves.. then Riley and Seager can be traded as a salary dump and the team can hopefully have a quick rebuild. Or just keep them with the hopes that you have some cheap talent coming up from the farm that you can supplement the payroll with. AA is so worried about what will happen in 5 years that he forgets about what is happening right now.

Seager's contract is fine, his biggest issue is staying healthy. But when healthy, he's as good as there is in the game. Depending how much money Texas would take on but his contract isnt that bad imo.

I'd likely try to keep prospect damage to a minimum and just assume more cash.

It would cost Ritchie or Caminiti and Owen Murphy with a couple of others I'm sure so they'll eat some of the money but this is a perfect time to trade for him bc we have an extra high pick to replenish what we trade. Seager hitting between Acuna and Riley would be insane.

it wont happen but a top 4 of Acuna, Seager, Riley, Olson would be insane.

This is the last winter Texas can dump Seagers salary. He’s 10/5 after next season.

So either the reports of the Braves shopping in the $15-20m reliever aisle are fake, or AA is looking to spend that much on a second closer type of pitcher. That would be a weird thing to do if payroll is tight.
