2025-2026 offseason thread

Kim doesn't have a significant injury history? What?
He had shoulder surgery in late 2024. Other than that, no he has not had a significant injury history.

Murphy on the other hand missed significant time for separate injuries each of the last 2 years, along with apparently dealing with this hip tear for 3-4 years.

I can see both sides of the coin in regards to Methhead.. but I think the last 2 years took the shine off that turd. It is real that he can't stay healthy and is still an unknown coming back from hip surgery. He might get 3/45 because the catching market is weak.. but I don't think it is a sure thing.. if I were betting, I would say he is taking a pillow deal for 1 year as a prove it contract and then trying to get one more big payday as a starting catcher.

you also have to consider that the new rules and most certainly the full implementation of ABS, his value is going to lie on his offense even more.

I am nervous about what this means for Jimenez’s knee. The back end of the bullpen looks awesome if he’s fully healthy.
I not only have no faith that his knee is even still attached to his body, but I also have no faith that he’ll come back as the same pitcher if he does come back.

I'd give him better than a D. He's added good quality depth to the OF and BP so far and got a really good INF utility guy. If he gets another SP and a good SS that's an A offseason.
WW is an unacceptable hire as manager. Dubon is the worst possible acceptable option at SS. Yaz is the worst possible acceptable option at OF/DH. Iggy and Suarez are adequate for fixing the back end of the BP. There have been 0 additions to the rotation. If Dubon/Yaz are everyday players, there have been 0 additions to the bench.

Listing all that out actually makes me think grading it as D if no more moves were made right now is actually pretty generous.

They are not remotely in the same situation. Murphy just had surgery and it is unknown when he will return.

And JTR has been better and healthier than Murphy by a good bit over the last 2 seasons. He's also currently healthy, unlike Murphy.
Lol whatever man. Kim played 48 games last year and was worth 0.3 fWAR. If he gets 3/$45 or more and you don’t believe Murphy would as a free agent, I don’t know what to tell you.

Murphy was worth as much as JTR was last year while playing part time and injured. He’s 3.5 years younger. He put up 5 WAR way back in 2023. You sincerely don’t think teams would expect ~6 WAR out of Murphy the next three seasons?

D is acceptable.. Yaz is a good 4th OF option and if one of the 3 starters goes down, then you can move Yaz as a starter and rely on the C to rotate through DH or bring up McCabe as a DH in some situations.. add that to the improving the BP and other coaches around twit2.0... D is a very fair grade.. maybe C- is in play...

3/$45 isn’t “shine” though. That’s Robert Suarez money.

JTR is going to get more than a one year deal as a cleerly aging, declining player because the catcher market is barren.

how much War is baked into framing. That is going to change over the next 2 years for sure.

I think faillies are going to over pay for JTR to keep him.. and the void of catchers is exactly why I said I can see both sides of the coin. But trading a catcher and a catcher sitting as a FA is not the same. when dealing with a specific team his 3/45 doesn't look as good because no other teams are bidding on that contract. that is why you can see a guy like Kim get acquired for nothing and then turn around and sign for more money that offseason.
