2025-2026 offseason thread

So deferrals and signing bonuses dont count toward the luxury?

I get why players wouldnt sign up for deferrals but why aren't teams abusing signing bonuses? Cash flow that tight?
I'd guess so. The Dodgers are probably the only team in baseball that could afford a signing bonus like that. Their tv deal is structured where MLB can't touch most of it either. The playing field isn't even at all.

Okay, I know some of you will blast me for this, but here goes. I believe that we are underestimating the young pitchers in the organization.

I think we will see that out of Waldrep, Ritchie, Murphy, Fuentes, and a few under the radar signings, we are going to come up with a couple of solid pitchers who will contribute this season.

I agree that we would be more comfortable with another veteran, but I don’t think it’s a total mess as some have suggested.

That's why my top guy would be Bassitt. We get to keep all of our prospects and keep the farm building this year. I wanna keep the depth we have with Murphy bc even signing Bassitt one or two of the others will go down at some point this year.

BREAKING: The New York Mets have acquired All-Star right-hander Freddy Peralta in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, sources tell ESPN. Deal is done. Top prospects Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat are headed to Milwaukee. One more big league pitcher will head to the Mets.
