I feel like people still don’t understand the rate of improvement is escalating at an escalating rate.

The world will not be recognizable in 5 years.

Who do you think is improving Claude right now, engineers? They’re just reviewing the changes that Claude suggests and writes.
 
Worst case scenario for the government is they force Anthropic to give them the access they need via the courts, or threaten to use the 5th Amendment to claim it. This is all a tempest in a teapot.

But, assuming Claude does grow and improve faster than a version the Pentagon hypothetically steals, so what? They just steal it again.

The top AI engineers are getting 9 figures job offers. They aren’t getting paid that much because they know how to write a good prompt.

It’s the modern day space race / Manhattan project. Improving these models requires deep domain knowledge in highly specialized disciplines.
 
If Anthropic is some sort of existential threat that's gonna open a can of worms for a lot of companies. All of the ones in the fossil fuel industry for example.

It's wild that people act like Truman wasn't heavily advised by the Manhattan project. Sure ultimately the military had the say in the use of the bomb. But the Military also spent all the money on the project. Unlike ANthropic who the military contracted, if the US Military hires the best and brightest minds in the AI Field to build a model, they can control it. If they try to license a product that already exist, it's not comparable.
