Profar 162 game suspension.

We ain’t paying him 17 million to play for another team, I can promise you that.

The better question is can he do anything to redeem himself in the eyes of the clubhouse. I’m not sure he can after not only breaking their trust a 2nd time in a year, but also refusing to own it and face them.

But, he’s either playing for the Braves or he’s playing for no one next year.
When you think about it though, we'd really just be paying him the money we were going to pay him this year. We all know AA isn't going to spend it elsewhere.

My guess is that they will agree to a buyout of the last year, spreading the cost over a number of years.
I'm fine with having 17 years of Jurickson Profar Day to remind the organization to never sign a guy who sucked most of his career and then all of a sudden started hitting the ball significantly harder.

Yes I get that. I still don’t think he will ever play another game as a Brave…

I dont understand how theres not language in thr contract that allows them to void it in these situations. It would atleast be nice to know they are going to add it to future contracts. If the player balks at the provision then that should tell our geniuses running the team

That’s fucking stupid. Gonna sit on their hands for several weeks for a formality. If there was anything working for Profar to get it overturned, the Braves would be defending him. Something somewhere would have leaked by now. It’s just another excuse for being cheap asses and likely ducking.

I think the player association is pretty much against any language that allows a contract to be voided. why they are all guaranteed.

There's nobody out there right now to spend the money on anyways. Just save it for the deadline and AA should be able to get whoever

Baldwin is already controlled through his age 30 season, so using that money to extend him doesn't make sense.

There are no other extension candidates right now, so maybe the deadline will be epic if the pitching staff hasn't led the team to 4th place by then.

Braves ownership elated and pissed at the same time. Elated they now have more money for their personal vacations but pissed bc now everyone knows they won’t invest that money back into the team. The least they could do is give it to Ronnie as part of an extension.
This doesn’t make any sense as a complaint for a Braves administration that has consistently sat in the top 5-10 payrolls for the past half-decade.

A less cynical approach would be. They are elated that have more freedom to improve the team during the season (deadline), but mad that there is nobody they could add right now that would make a big difference.

They would be wise to wait for opportunities that will surely arise as the season progresses. Not only will there be players available, but the most critical needs will be clarified.

Has Profar even commented anything or issued an apology, since his latest suspension was announced? I haven't heard anything but I may have missed it. At least last year there was a mea culpa. I wonder if he'll just lay low until next year.

Dude is selfish- he left his teammates mid game in the WBC without a word. Maybe we hear some pro forma PR statement a few weeks from now but he’s probably persona non grata in the clubhouse now.
