Legal/scotus thread

Meh. Intent is quite obvious here. And there have been no shortage of 2nd amendment infringements despite the text quite clearly stating "shall not be infringed"

By letter of the text, they can get away with striking this down. But they understand the intent of the 14th and choosing to ignore that.

Unfortunately our congress will never fix this issue

Colorado Appeals Court orders convicted election fraudster Tina Peters to be resentenced citing reasoning for the sentence violated her first amendment rights. I guess Judges cant give extra time when convicted felons say "Yeah I did it and I will do it again". Nothing stopping her from getting sentenced to more time. That she would likely profit from her crime and be appointed to a position that would allow her to reoffend. If a pedophile is going to be given a job at a daycare when they get out I think thats a good reason to give them as much time as possible.

Oh. I remember 57 throwing down about this

“Slowly but surely!”

Very interesting case. They used what I will call the Clay Davis defense. "I will take any motherfuckers money if they giving it away.". John Davis, the head of the Department of Human Services was required to privatize some welfare programs. Prosecutors claim DiBiase of a kind of honeypot scheme. They claimed Davis was lonely and DiBiase took advantage of him but Davis was handing out contracts to groups with no ability to fulfill it and for celebrity pet projects for people like Favre. Sounds like the jury blamed Davis and saw Dibiase as the scapegoat. But Davis will never go on trial for his actions. This was a jury nullification verdict.
