Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

We’ve done this too many times before. There are disparities within many of our systems that adversely affect people of color, despite it not being codified. Both conscious and subconscious biases contribute to it and undoubtedly you will object to some of it as being a product of behavioral or cultural issues within those groups.

Regardless, I don’t think any racial group should be specifically allotted representatives in Congress.
Like so many but no one can point any out or like so many it would blow our minds so you are erring on the side of caution?

Bc the only disparities listed have been from sturg against white peole it seems

You believe systemic racism is "alive and well" and also cant point to a single systenic law showing any... while i provide examples daily that are hard coded into the law that you never seem to take any issue with

Good job guys..

I must laugh when I read the lack of knowledge the meaning of "systemic racism " asking which laws.
Systemic racism would be more in line with a landlord offering an apartment to a white couple at one price and a couple of color at another.
Proof ?
Well, there is that funny phrase again, " plausible deniability" where you would have to rely on the word of the accused .
The old he said she said

On par with a "make him an offer he cant refuse" level of proof

I rented my house to a couple of color - Years later I had to get a court order to get the sheriff to evict them because they ended up owing over 20K in back rent. Never saw that money and they absolutely trashed my home.

Good times - won't make that mistake again.

The success of second generation black immigrants suggests that current racism isn't the issue. Rather it seems to be more a matter of culture and residential choices. Black immigrants value education more and also avoid living in the ghetto. Now it could be argued that culture itself and residential segregation are legacies of past discrimination and racism, and I think there is quite a bit of validity there. But it should be acknowledged that this country has made a lot of progress in providing plenty of opportunities to young ambitious people of all races and ethnicities.

When did this happen ? Did the black couple pass a credit check? Have sufficient deposit? Have animals ?

If you rented to a white family that didn’t pay rent, would you assume you should stop renting to whites? If so, that’s part of the systemic racism. It wasn’t racist to kick them out or oppression that stopped them from paying rent, but if you can rule out an entire group based on one representative of it, that’s part of it.

Hah - my neighborhood isn't nice enough to get a white family. That may be changing but still not the case.

Statistically it makes sense to stereotype. I know that hurts your sensabilities but its the reality of the world we live in.

'Racism' & stereotypes didn't just come out of nowhere. Its centuries of experience.

I was such a sap for these losers that I believed every story the man said. They had children and I specifically told them that I wouldn't evict them until the summer so the kids would not be distrubed. None of this mattered as they destroyed my home.

Or better yet - systemic racism would be more in line with the government creating a law or subsidy or advantage that specifically aims to benefit a black person and not a white person.

Proof?

Well, there is that funny phrase again - where I can easily show it, whereas you cannot.

Systemic ≠ Structural

If all future black families are denied housing by a property owner because another black family wrecked the place, it impacts that family based solely on the color of their skin. It’s not illegal for the property owner to simply not rent out his home to any given black family because he can find any reason he likes. I don’t really begrudge the homeowner in that circumstance and I think there are effective and ineffective ways of handling the problem. But if your status as a black person specifically is a barrier in you finding housing for you, you’re the victim of systemic racism.

Do you agree that a program like affirmative action is systemic racism against white people?

Which is how all racism/steriotyping in formed.

Through actual experience.
Along with a slew of non-actual experiences that lead to and reinforce prejudices. Again, if a white family did all of the same things the black family did, it would not lead you to immediately conclude that white families cannot be trusted. Your personal experience was part of the equation, but existing stereotypes formed the basis for the conclusion.

once again - thethe or sturg or anyone can be racist and that does not mean we have systemic racism. thethe may not want to rent his home to 2 gay guys. or to sorority girls. or to non-jews. none of those people excluded are victims of systemic racism... just thethes' rightful prejudice
