GDT 5/10/26: Braves @ Dodgers - Mother’s Day Game!!!

Jarvis down for Kim. Farmer gone for Acuña. Tromp up for Murphy if he hits the IL with his hand injury (with the Farmer DFA opening up a spot on the 40-man).

We've really seen the benefit of enhanced depth this season. Dubon is a solid, glove-first super-utility guy who's hitting above his head, Mateo is a speed merchant and solid defensive middle infielder without much of a bat and Heim (RIP) was just a veteran third catcher. But being able to fill lineup spots with vaguely competent major league players instead of Chadwick Tromp and Stuart Fairchild makes a big difference. And that's with a string of injuries that really strained that depth.

Or White has a concussion and is going on the seven-day concussion IL, with Kim joining the team. So they punt the decisions a little longer but look a bit light on the OF now (though I guess Farmer has six career innings in LF …).

My admiration of Eli has gone through the roof- that’s like getting hit by Iron Mike Tyson and holding on to the ball…

I credit Walt’s tackling of Soler for Eli’s toughness….

I would assume they are utilizing the concussion IL on White so they can keep Farmer on the bench a few more days. He'll be snatched up quickly when he is DFA'd by a team that needs depth. And in the event someone else gets hurt in the next 7 days, then we don't lose a decent bench piece.

Or I guess I could have scrolled down a couple more posts to see that you already made this point, lol.

What ended up happening to AA being a sucky GM and not having enough pitching?
Well he hit the lottery twice with Elder and Perez, and both pitchers are indeed due for some regression (Elder less so than Perez).

But Holmes and Lopez are basically out of the rotation at this point. That's something that many of us suspected might happen. If not for Perez and Elder, we'd be a lot closer to .500 right now.
