2026 : Around the League

Padres have a lot of regression coming unless their offense picks it up. Jackson Merrill will probably turn it around, but Machado might be cooked. Tatis' power numbers since getting popped have not been super impressive and this year they have been non-existent.

If things go south (and they probably will sooner rather than later), they really need to sell. Their farm is not good and most of their talent is in the lower levels. They could get a king's ransom for Miller and Jackson Merrill. King is a nice piece too. They might be able to eat some of Bogaerts money and get a decent haul of prospects since the SS market is barren.

If that happens, the sell probably won't come this year. The team is going through a sale to a new owner which hasn't been fully approved yet. They probably need to wait for the new regime to be in place first.

Speaking of people on drugs, saw a “rumor” saying if the Giants trade Rafael Devers, the Braves would be a likely destination
Well, we did almost trade for him last year. But where is he going to play? He’s a DH only at this point. Also, no way we’re taking on that contract with how he’s performed this year.

For a low-enough price, I guess you can take the shot on Devers, but man, that price is awfully low and getting lower by the day. He's a DH with a 99 OPS+ and negative WAR. He's signed through 2033 at $33 million a year. The amount of money the Giants would have to swallow to make me even a little interested is absolutely staggering.
