I thought Counsell was supposed to be some managerial genius.I don't know squat about the Cubs..but I still can't believe they brought in a RHP in the 8th which allowed WW to easily unwind the platoon advantage...I was shocked when I saw that
I looked at their roster and they only have 2 lefties in the pen.. and one threw 1.2 innings the night before so I assume he was saving Milnar for Drake and Olson.. Problem is, you never got that chance because managers don't understand leverage to save their livesI thought Counsell was supposed to be some managerial genius.
And Baldwin laughs at those who try to throw lefties at him.I looked at their roster and they only have 2 lefties in the pen.. and one threw 1.2 innings the night before so I assume he was saving Milnar for Drake and Olson.. There is literally no other manager out there I’d rather have right now. I won’t agree with all of his decisions but I won’t agree with anyone else’s decisions all the time either. His fire and demeanor are awesome.Alot of us have crow to eat bc WW has surpassed all expectations by a country mile. I hated the hire when it happened but now I'm glad that was the choice. The guys all seem to love him and the results speak for themselves. Good for Walt.
He's said in a lot of interviews that he wants to be aggresive and push the envelope and not let the game come to them so to speak. Aggresive pen management and stacking lineups to try and score early have been part of it.WW is certainly not messing around this year. Another thing to note is using the BP in a tie game like we had the lead. That is generally not classic managing 101 either. That might get us in trouble eventually if say, that game was tied and went to extras, but I like that WW is striking while the iron's hot.
Idk, he’s been easily worth it the first three. I think he’ll be worth it for the 4th year. And it was “only” $177m. Three years after this one, who knows. But I’ve always like Dansby. But, I'm generally happy we did not buy 7 years of Dansby for $200M.
And super, if we're being honest, Dansby has always liked you.Idk, he’s been easily worth it the first three. I think he’ll be worth it for the 4th year. And it was “only” $177m. Three years after this one, who knows. But I’ve always like Dansby.
And who could blame him?And super, if we're being honest, Dansby has always liked you.
