GDT 5/13/26: Braves vs Cubs - What Does Farmer Have To Do?

Alot of us have crow to eat bc WW has surpassed all expectations by a country mile. I hated the hire when it happened but now I'm glad that was the choice. The guys all seem to love him and the results speak for themselves. Good for Walt.

I looked at their roster and they only have 2 lefties in the pen.. and one threw 1.2 innings the night before so I assume he was saving Milnar for Drake and Olson.. Problem is, you never got that chance because managers don't understand leverage to save their lives
 
WW is certainly not messing around this year. Another thing to note is using the BP in a tie game like we had the lead. That is generally not classic managing 101 either. That might get us in trouble eventually if say, that game was tied and went to extras, but I like that WW is striking while the iron's hot.

There is literally no other manager out there I’d rather have right now. I won’t agree with all of his decisions but I won’t agree with anyone else’s decisions all the time either. His fire and demeanor are awesome.

So Snit Junior learned something from Snit Senior.

I always said that I learned something from all of my bosses when I was young… some things I learned to do, and some things I learned not to do.

I give Walt credit for learning both of those from Snit, and having the chops to know which are which.

He's said in a lot of interviews that he wants to be aggresive and push the envelope and not let the game come to them so to speak. Aggresive pen management and stacking lineups to try and score early have been part of it.
 
What I've liked about Weiss, is something that's come up in interviews, is he's shown interest in holding players accountable. But he seems to know how to communicate effectively so they don't get pissed off. I'm not sure we ever got that from Snitker.
