CarGo got pulled mid game with an injury. I know we have them coming up, only reason I posted it.

Looks like Crawford to the DL with ankle issue. Timing????

I wasn't outraged with the move when it happened but I definitely didn't understand getting rid of Juan Francisco. Man, it would be nice to have him in the lineup right now.

I wanted to hold on to him too. It was a little bit of a tricky situation. We had Pena, Schafer, Francisco all out of options and were carrying 11 pitchers at the time. And Fredi probably felt he was overtaxing the pen. Unfortunately, Pena got hurt a week or two after we let Juan go. If we could have just been a little more patient.

Honestly I doubt he would be this good here. Somewhat similar to when we offered contracts to Fisk, Ortiz, and someone else. We obviously got Fisk and Ortiz went to Boston and exploded. The hitting coach just had something that clicked with him that I doubt would have happened here. I don't know who the hitting coach in Toronto is but he has been doing some magical work there. Bautista has turned into a premier power hitting and now Encarnaicon(sp) has turned his career around and is a legit slugger. Is Francisco the next guy? I know they have a really good hitters park but it's not that good.

The player in question is Travis Lee.

Ortiz is an interesting story. Twins' manager Tom Kelly had no time for him. Twins had him on a yo-yo after his first couple of seasons and were ready to send him out (probably for good) when Kelly's dad got sick and Kelly took a few days off to be with him. Gardenhire was interim manager and he immediately put Ortiz in the line-up and Ortiz took full advantage of the opportunity. Ortiz played one more season after that in Minnesota, but the organization didn't like his hitting approach and attitude. I frankly don't know if Ortiz would have been a good fit for the Braves. He's a potted plant at 1B. Of course, Fick wasn't much better at 1B and he wasn't near the hitter that Ortiz was.
