NBA Thread

Thats what happens when you just go after the sexy move instead of building the best team. In this new twitter age everyone thinks you suck if you can't make the big move. Morey was the epitome of that by getting Harden/Howard and then getting praised as the best GM in the sport by the internet.

I'll take my guy and adding one of the top 5 three point shooters in the nba for half of what Jodie Meeks got.

Are you seriously trying to say that Howard/Bosh/CP/Harden wasn't going to be a good mix?

I'm not going back and reading but did thethe really say Morrow is a top 5 3 pt shooter? REALLY?

You never know until its out there. Weren't you guys all saying how Bosh isn't that good of a player anymore? I think it would have been fun to watch but ultimately Morey focussed more on making the sexy moves when the team only needed tweaks to get over the next hump.

I guess you haven't been paying attention to basketball the last few years when MOrrow was a 43% 3point shooter. How many guys do you think have shot better over the last 5 years?

I've never once said Bosh "isn't good" I said he's NOT the MVP of the HEAT and he's not a top 10 or 15 player or whatever Heyward said he was. If you don't think Bosh is the perfect compliment to Howard then you know nothing about basketball.

He's shot over 43% ONCE in the last 3 years.....

Remember when you said I was stupid for saying Kevin Martin would have his best three poiut shooting year in OKC Brule?

He shot 42%.....he played 28 minutes a game....do you seriously think Morrow is going to have close to that kind of impact? If Morrow is playing more than 12-15 MPG you're in serious trouble.

I would LOVE for MOrrow to be playing 20 minutes a game and standing behind the three point line all day. Do you realize just how much attention KD and RW get? Morrow is going to be open all day. If he is shooting 4-7 open three pointers every game he will average 10+ points a game. Caron Butler shot 44% last year on 4.5 attempts. Morrow is going to clean up with us.

OKC's main problem last year was shooting. Now, with a proven shooter the whole geometry of the court will change. The NBA is moving to the Spurs type of play and just surround a great player with shooting. I could see lineups like this:

Ibaka
KD
Morrow
RJ
RW

The defense is going to be well tough but thats a lot of shooting and spacing on the court. Its going to be great.

Morey knew he needed the 3rd piece to win a title and felt that Bosh would make a good 3rd piece while Parsons does not (who got extremely overpaid) Tweaking doesn't get the Rockets over the hump so will he lost out, I'd rather the GM shoot for the stars.

I thought Morey did a really nice job setting up his team, just couldn't get it over the goal line. Howard / Bosh / Parsons / Harden / Beverley would have been interesting.

He doesn't even shoot many 3s.

You would get killed with the lineup.

The years in which he got a lot of minutes he shot plenty of threes and shot them well. For whatever reason he didn't get minutes with the teams that he was on for the last copule of years. Maybe those reasons will make it so that OKC can't play him a lot this year but I believe he is going to see the floor for at least 20 minutes a night. As long as he gets those minutes he is going to hit a lot threes. Look at what he did in his first three years in the NBA. Guy is a prolific three point shooter and will show that this year. Just like Kevin Martin and Caron Butler benefitted from open shots all day so will Morrow.

No comment on Morrow.

Bev/James/Parsons/Bosh/Howard woulda been lethal, glad it didnt happen though.

Checking out some summer league.....

Not all that impressed with Jabari so far. Seems a lot like Melo to me, but a lesser athlete than Melo. Maybe he can turn into that iso offensive player because he does have some moves, but he's not going to be highly effective in transition and his defense is pathetic. Playing next to the freak makes him look like he's playing in quicksand. Love watching the Greek Freak play.

Jazz- Gobert/Exum/Hood. Hood isn't a good athlete, but reminds me of Michael Redd. Can shoot, decent passer as well. Smooth stroke. Gobert looks like he's bulked up a bit and is a sick athlete. Probably still a big project. Exum is a guy I like a lot. Jazz are going to be a team to keep an eye out because they do have have good young talent....they just don't have much to go with those guys. Favors, Burke, Heyward.

Nice to see Otto Porter play well, I still think the Tayshaun Prince comparison is good. He'll be a solid NBA player, obviously not your typical 3rd pick in the draft. Him being able to play enough to start would be a big addition for us, allowing Pierce to come off bench and play small as a 4 and in crunch time when we need a shot. Glen Rice Jr. can light it up, he reminds me a lot of the microwave.
