Winning the NL East

Not sure how to title this thread. This isn't a panic or meltdown thread either. So save it.

After tonight the Braves are two games back. At what point do you start to worry about not winning the division. I think mid to the third week of August is when I would start worrying if the Braves are 5 games back.

Conversely I would start feeling pretty good about the Braves chances once the calendar turned to September if they had a 5 game lead. September 2012 not withstanding.

Fredi usually has a terrible September (losing record for the Braves). We need to have an awesome August. I'm worried. I think we are going to fall short, 87 or so wins; I just hope that's enough to grab a Wild Card spot.

We have an absolute killer schedule in the next four to five weeks, even if we get to .500, the Nats have it much easier.

Fangraphs has us 86-76, which sounds about right....possibly a hair low. (1-2 wins)

12% for the division, 44% for the wildcard, so we are still looking good for playoff baseball.

Stupid Question, how can one be a fan of both the Nationals and Braves. Seriously that's absurb, get the hell outta here! What's next, I'm gonna run into a Duke and Carolina super fan? How about ones that loves the Yankees and Red Sox.

This a question for me? If so, Im not sure how someone does that.

I don't know about everyone else but I am always worried that we won't win something. That's why I watch the games. Whoever wins the division will come down to the last week and with an extra wild card it's a good bet we will play game 163 at the least. Wij, lose or draw it always ends in heartbreak anyways. Whether we we lose in game 163, 167 or even if we win it all and the dough ebay world series map leaves over a few million to the division rivals so he can afford a gold plated toilet.

We have lost 5 straight to the mets and marlins plenty to be worried about. At this point I doubt very seriously whether we can hope to do much more than win one game per series against Washington. They have the better rotation and there is no more sense arguing it. The only way to win the division is if David Price puts on an Atlanta uni later this month. And given the schedule and the amount of teams in the wc race, I'd say it's safe to make golfing plans in October for the Braves.

If Minor doesn't find it soon it will be well over before the last week.

:panic:

The Braves pitching is just not good enough, better word consistent enough.

Consistent is the word. If Minor and Santana quit this garbage and pitch like they should we'll be ok. Nationals also have a relief core full of guys having career years and I don't think that will last. The most important thing in our favor is that the Nats players have a history of being injury prone. I doubt they'll stay healthy down the stretch. I still think our chances are 50/50 to win this division.

It has lasted all year for us before. So it could.
Santana and Minor are the key to our season potentially.

And if a bear didn't stop to shut in the woods he wouldn't be a rug.

Maybe we will win maybe we wont. It's just stupid to say we have no chance. How can you be so positive about a team that has won 1 more game than us yet be so negative about the braves? Why have they been in second most of the year? Why don't they have more of a lead if the teams are so far apart in talent? What does the Nats jizz taste like after your doing fella citing them?

Your at the point where I think you want to be right about this.

He's a Nats fan imo.

Talks like the Nats are the 27 Yankees with no flaws but the Braves suck butt.

Nats are a little better overall top to bottom but comes down to the starting pitching.

If Minor gets his head out of his ass, a top 4 of JT/Wood/Santana/Minor is pretty solid.

Go be a Nats fan the way you talk about them, christ.

It's pretty much the Dodgers, Giants, Nats, Braves, Reds, Pirates, Cards, Brewers for 5 spots.

So 8 teams for 5 spots, we'll see.

Schedule does get pretty tough though.
