GDT 7/28/14 Santana vs. Lane

It looks like it's time to put Gattis back in the cleanup spot. The guys swing looks much better! I still say: BJ, Heyward, Freeman, Gattis, JUP, CJoh, La Stella, Simmons. I have nothing against La Stella in the two-hole, but I still like where he was.

I am highly impressed with Ervin Santana. His monthly ERA has lowered to 3.25 and his season ERA to 3.63. That's pretty awesome and exactly what we need with Minor not doing so hot.

BJ should not be leading off at all.

Should be.

Heyward, TLS, JUp, FF, Gattis, CJ, BJ, Simmons.

I think it's pretty obvious that most people here agree, but that's not going to happen. BJ is pretty much cemented there until he's hurt or he goes 1-200 lol

We can all agree that with Heywards complete lack of power and good OBP he is a good top of order hitter.

I think we can all agree that if he keeps putting up offensive numbers like he has this season he is not touching Freemen type money

BJ should not be leading off off.

So you want to take BJ out of the one spot where he has been effective and put a middle of the order hitter as the lead off hitter? BJ hasn't been terrible as a lead off hitter he is not a .280 hitter and that should not be expected of him. He's hitting, he's scoring runs and he's stealing bases while playing good defense I don't move BJ

To go along with your last post, if Heyward keeps putting up similar offensive numbers to this year, he's a much better lead-off hitter than BJ.

And he still has and displays all the tools. Great eye at the plate. World-class defense. Great base runner. His power is absent right now, but I bank on that coming back. He's a smart, hard-working player. He's still really young and making adjustments.

I'd rather give him that money than risk losing him. He's just 24.

I don't get this at all. You want to give him Freddy Freemen money when his production does not warrant it . Is he this teams offensive MVP - no that's Freddy? Is he second - no that's Justin. I would even place Gattis over Heyward. So you want to pay him like an offensive power house when he is not. Let the Yankees sign him to a crazy contract we can not afford any more sunken cost

I'm not saying Heyward is a bad player not at all his defense has been amazing but outside of Simba defense is not as valued as offense when it comes to contracts
