8/21/14 Braves @ Reds 7:10 ET

Sigh...niners somehow defending CJ again huh..Let's look at the numbers...again....

Among NL 3rd baseman:
2nd to last in WAR
Last in wRC+
Last in BB%
Last in K%
Last in OBP
Last in OPS
9th out of 12 in ISO
2nd worst defender
He has 131 Ks and 15 BB...that's for real.
I don't know how you can argue that he hasn't been terrible. He happens to be hitting well with men on, but that doesn't last. He should not be playing vs. righties at all.

Same people that think CJ is hitting well this year also thought Francoeur was good when he had a lot of RBI.

I'd be curious to know how many of CJ's fans actually thought Francoeur was terrible. As mindless as Francoeur could be in his approach to the game, he looks like Einstein when compared to the way Johnson has played this season. At least when Francoeur had his season in which he struck out 100+ times more than he walked, he managed to hit 29 HRs and his isoSLG was .189.

Great catch by JUp. IMO he'd have caught that ball last night if not for having to worry about BJ streaking in from his left. I guess we'll never know but I blame that play as much on the older Upton as I do the younger one.

Agreed.

TLS has as a rookie hit above average for a 2B despite an almost impossibly low 1.6% HR/FB. And a pretty low .308 BABIP considering his LD and GB rates. TLS could be much better for sure. But you've been hating on TLS for a long time.

Not hating, just pumping the breaks on people that overate him. Hes all OBP, which is an important skill, but his defense, power, and base running are lacking.

Goss, btw, has hit .377 and .320 vs lefties the past 2 years and is a much better defender than TLS. It makes sense for him to play vs lefties.

Why is Russell pitching two innings.
