CJ is certainly a problem this year. But a lot of what made him successful last year is still there. It's a good sign for next year. If we didn't have several much bigger problems, I think he would be more of a concern.

He's really the only position player we can realistically upgrade for 2015, and we need to make that upgrade.

So make a move for out of sake of making a move? Sorry, CJ is farthest from the cause of our problems. Downgrading or upgrading at his position won't help the 6 other hitters who have zero plate discipline.

Understood. But we can't realistically do anything about it. We can with 3b. Johnson is, by the numbers, the worst third baseman in the league.

I would give CJ a chance to prove he is more the player he has been throughout his career. That person is worth more than the contract he has. But I hope the team prepares to replace him next year if his struggles continue. Just have a good option on the bench to spell him against tough righties and be there to take over if needed.

Even THIS year, CJ is one of the main reasons we've performed so well against lefties. That has been a major weakness in the past.
