Apparent Coaching Changes

did I miss the news of us actually hiring a new GM?

cause if we hired someone, then my bad

if not, they are ****ing liars

It looks like Hart is here to stay, at least for a year or three. These moves solidify that.

I'm actually very upset at the moment more so than I had anticipated. Until it was announced today I had a small glimmer of hope that FG would be gone. I have watched the Braves religiously for 29 years this upcoming season would have made 30 and with announcement I know that I won't watch next year and that is truly hard to stomach. I know me not watching will have no affect on what the Braves as an organization do but I just can't watch an organization that clearly cares more about loyalty to Cox than they do to winning.

It's so effing frustrating and maddening that they would keep this clown as manager. I can only imagine how pissed the players are right now, with exception of BJ. They quit on this clown months ago and I think it was evident by the play on the field, not sure if they did it purposefully or they just were done mentally because of the decisions FG made that rarely put the team in the best postions to win.

Nope. But I think keeping him on fixes nothing and I'd rather try to fix something than just hope everything breaks our way which is seemingly what it takes.

Firing Fredi would change the W/L a little but hardly anything drastic.

Doesnt change the other huge flaws of the team.

Some of y'all are something else. We have the winningest manager in baseball since he took over and yet people want him gone. It makes no sense. Saint Cox didn't do well with subpar talent either, see 2006-2009 but he gets a pass and Fredi does not. People need to accept Bobby is gone and not coming back.

If they could only get rid on one guy between Gonzalez and Wren, then I believe the right one got fired. Reading things the past couple weeks, it seems like Wren had a lot to do with the sour culture of the team. Make no mistake though, Gonzalez will be on the hot seat in 2015. It's the last year of his current deal and if there is no progression next season, he won't be retained. I'm sure Fredi knows that as well.

I'm, like the rest of you, are anxious to see what kind of changes will happen. This was just not a good blend of players on this team. Frankly, I'm not sure any manager would win with the way the team was constructed. I find it hard to believe there won't be changes. What those might be, I don't know. I don't think anybody does. Lets hope those changes put the Braves in a much better position to win in 2015 than it did in 2014.

Also, to those giving up on the 2015 season just because Fredi is returning as manager, stop. You're being ridiculous. Lets see how this team is constructed before throwing in the towel on the season six months before the first pitch.

Compare the rosters, not even worth debating but i dont live in roses and cherry land.

Their top 4 fWAR position players are Peralta (basically equal to Jason) Carpenter (basically equal to Justin, way worse offensively but better defensively and at a more offensive reduced position) Holliday (below Justin) and Yadier. Their combined fWAR is 16.1. our top 4 is 15.3. Where their strength is that their other guys didn't suck as hard,

From the pitching side, that's where we crush them. They have 2 great starters, Waino (4.5) and Lynn (3.1) after them, Wacha was strong but only made 19 starts. We had Julio (3.2) Ervin (2.8) Wood (2.5) and Harang (2.5) not to mention Kimbrel>>>>>anyone in their pen. Minor our worst starter had the same fWAR as Shelby Miller, their only other starter with 150+ IP. Pitching supposedly wins, and we had so much more of that.

Because our offense is garbage.

And if you take out the top 4, give me Adams, Wong, Jay, and whoever their RF'er is over CJ, Simmons, BJ, and TLS.

Not giving up on the season just waiting for the organization to care more about winning again instead of loyalty to Cox. FG may even gets the Braves to the playoffs again the problem however is he will make another decision like leave CK in the bullpen. That's the real issue the guy has no clue what he is doing. I knew it from the first real decision he had to make as Braves manager. Kemp is on fire, talk of MVP, triple crown etc. and with a base open, one out bottom of the inning FG pitched to him we lose. That was the most idiotic descion I have ever seen same as the MLBtv crew that day that was until he left CK in the bullpen. He made these types of head scratching decisions all the time and in a 162 game schedule those mistakes can be covered up with talent and are exposed in the playoffs.

Fredi isnt the only one to make bad decisions in games like yall seem to think.

And take out Waino and Lynn and Wood, Harang, and Minor crush Miller, Wacha, and the rest of the crew. All non-Lynn/Waino starters combined for a 3.3 fWAR. much lower than our bottom 3 starters. Unless of course you want to only figure on offense as what matters.

Pretty much and he's a butcher on a bullpen too (I am thinking of Venters, EOF, Linebrink, Martinez, Gearrin, Avilan, etc).

Watching the Cards right now. I remember that all year, they didn't hit a lotof HR's, but just single after single after single. Then when they do hit a HR, it is a back breaker.
I think the reason they win despite not being statistically better, is not by hitting with power, but by not making outs. I think more guys that can preserve outs may be just as important as HR's... at least the Cards provdie some pretty good evidence this year..

I love how "Other managers are bad!" is supposed to inoculate Fredi Gonzalez from criticism and/or justify his retention.

It's not.

Unless we're getting Buck or Maddon, nothing changes much.
