Not sure if there's been a thread on this, but I thought it'd be interesting to hear from others.
I just watched the finale of The Shield today (still in awe over the last few episodes) and went through the series over the last few months.
It bolted right up near the top for me.
Others at the top of my list: The Wire, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Six Feet Under. Game of Thrones has impressed me through four seasons as well.
A show I think is brilliant that is not widely known is Rectify on Sundance.
A few other shows I've watched have had their moments, but haven't quite reached the level of some of my tops ones. The Bridge on FX has been pretty solid. The Walking Dead is hit or miss. The Killing on AMC, I thought, was underrated, but they just wrapped it up on Netflix, and it had a really terrible ending.
I've got a rather lengthy list of shows I haven't seen that I'd like to go back and catch up on. The Sopranos, Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy, The Americans are a few that come to mind.
Edit: Moreso talking about dramas.
