This should completely close the door on Dayton Moore coming to Atlanta. It was already unklikely that he'd leave his hometown, uproot his family, abandon his staff and the organization he worked so hard to build into a contender. He certainly won't do all those things to assume less responsibility / authority in a two-headed front office.

So then the GM search OFFICIALLY officially crosses Hart off the list. If Moore is basically off the list now too, then that leaves Coppy and who?

Is JS no longer President? Or he still assumes the title of Club President. Now he and Hart are Co-Presidents. They can fulfill the bromance.

JS confirms that Coppolella is Hart's right-hand man and they don't plan on adding anyone else. Not going to have a GM.

Why? It doesn't even matter. It's just a title.

Hart obviously doesn't want the GM title, and they obviously aren't ready to give it to Coppy yet. He is a GM in Training, under Hart, which is pretty much what a lot of people expected and wanted. I'm pretty satisfied. Hart has a good track record and is obviously a good baseball mind. More importantly, he appears to be good with people. Coppy is a more modern, forward thinking baseball guy, and I believe the mix will be good. I think Hart is willing to listen, and will actually allow a lot of influence and some decision making from Coppy. If ownership had the bucks and was willing to extend Heyward and JUp, things would be looking pretty good.

I struggle to see how John Hart is an obvious upgrade over Frank Wren.

A lot of it is small group politics. Wren (and apparently Manno) were not easy to work with. Some good people were leaving and perhaps others would have as well without a change. Harmony and collegiality are important aspects of the "Braves Way." To coin a phrase.

That was sort of the impression I got. The Braves are prioritizing the ability to bring back guys like Clark, and that means disposing of Wren. We'll see if that turns out to be wise.
