Wow, that's crappy. Sometimes teams just under perform. They were a better team than their record. And they're pinning that on him. Longo had a poor season at the plate, injuries, etc.

Would love to have him. Won't happen. Fredi has the goods on someone.

Yeah. Maddon is the one who chose to leave -- had an opt-out clause in his contract that was apparently triggered by Friedman's departure (which is odd, but genius language).
 
Joe Maddon is a good manager, but I've always that that he f*cks around with his line-up simply for the sake of f*cking around with his line-up. Curious to see where he ends up. He will have no shortage of suitors. Injuries contributed to TB's problems this year, but the magic may be ending there.

And? Even if that's true, that doesn't mean much to me. Better than having BJ/Simmons up at 1-2.

It just reminds me of the genius tag that got placed on Gene Mauch, who I watched for a number of years up in Minnesota. I'm just saying it doesn't mean anything, but some people think it does. If you note, I wasn't calling Fredi a genius.

I wonder if Dave Martinez might be willing to join the Braves as hitting coach (assuming he's not the Rays new manager or moves with Maddon to another team).
 
If I was the Rays I would try to move to New York. When the commish says no I would sue the **** out of mlb. Can't move into a big market and mlb does next to nothing to stop those markets from using their big market to out spend the Rays 4 to 1.
 
They'd a new stadium though. One of the reasons to leave Tampa is the stadium, and they'd be going from bad to worse if they're in Olympic Stadium.
