#Athletics talking with #Braves about Justin Upton, Evan Gattis sources say. Jeff Samardzija may be the bait.

Just posted another thread before I saw yours, didn't want you to think I was stealing your threads. Sorry about that.

Lester is better and you aren't moving players you could restock your minors with as well. I just don't see this happening. At least not for Jeff.

That was my point too, I believe it's probably true they are talking. I just don't see the noted speculation about Jeff as making sense.

Justin for Samardzjia is a pretty even deal. John Jaso would make a good platoon partner for Bethancourt. Not sure what else we would want from them.

Edit - justin/Gattis for Samardzjia/Jaso/Reddick?

MLBTR speculates further: "Hickey notes that starter Jeff Samardzija could be involved in talks involving the aforementioned players. From my perspective, though, it makes little sense for Atlanta to chase after a one-year arm of that kind. Of course, a three-team scenario could be imagined that might make sense of that concept."

I agree that a three team trade might work. I did hear that the White Sox had interest in Samardzija so maybe an Atlanta-Oakland-Chicago deal of some kind.

I remember earlier in the evening, Susan Slusser (if you watch MLB Network on a regular basis, you know who she is) reported the A's were talking about a deal involving Smardzija before Rosenthal reported he was not in the deal made last night. This could be what Slusser was talking about.

Totally agree! (Finally we agree haha)

In all seriousness, I have really enjoyed our conversations. So many on here can't carry on a discussion and you clearly aren't one of them, so thank you! I have enjoyed your input and you seem very knowledgeable.

A third team could work, but I just don't see a match with either team from an offensive standpoint.

I'd like to say 0% chance this is true. Although I have 0 faith in Hart so idk. This would basically be like chopping off your right foot to have it transplanted to replace your missing left foot.

It'd be nice to have five study arms in the rotation.

It'd be even nicer to score more than five runs a week.

Seriously, why the **** are we talking about trading Upton for pitching?
