"I Can't Breathe"

So you don't know if it is right or wrong to feel that way? Or better to think that? Just your personal view?

What are you even talking about anymore?
I'm not religious. I cannot tell you a religion that I follow. You're saying the human conscience is a religion. Fine. I don't look at it that way. I'm not sure what else you want.

You two are arguing the age-old question, "Which came first, the chicken or the chicken poop?"

Same thing we've been talking about. Why do you feel that it is wrong to hurt another person? How do you know your feeling is correct, right, proper? Do you think this moral standard of yours should apply to others? If so why? If someone has a different feeling than yours, a different standard, are they wrong? If so why? Why should your conscience bind another person?

Or simply answer me this, is any moral choice objectively good or bad? That is, good or bad no matter what the person's subjective feelings would be?

None of this has anything to do with religion (to me).

P.S. I'm not going to belittle you no matter what your answer(s) are. Just want to know because the answers you give will give us an idea of what your worldview is. Or as I am using the term, what set of religious beliefs you have.

I'm not worried about you belittling me.

Some people are insane in the membrane, thus their conscience is lacking. Serial murderers, rapists, pedophiles, etc. Murder is inherently wrong because you're taking someone's life away, and life is extremely valuable. Rape and pedophilia (or, acting on pedophilia) is wrong because you're harming someone against their will.

But why is harming someone wrong?

Why is life valuable?

"Life is extremely valuable" is a religious statement - one that I agree with btw.

No, it is not religious.
Again, if you want to call my conscience and personal feelings on things a religion, then by all means, go ahead. If you simply mean a set of beliefs, fine. Honestly, call it whatever you want.
As far as I know, I only have one life (though that could be wrong, who knows).
You say I'm religious because I have a certain feeling/opinion on something doesn't make it true (or false). It's really splitting hairs what you want to call it.

Feeling a sense of value for life is derived from the survival instinct. It isn't religious. The same goes for most things that cause harm. A few others derive from our pack mentality. The tighter definitions and exclusions and additions and all that mess is usually a product of the environment, which is where religious influence usually appears.

Didn't mean to interrupt!

I guess you don't think I answered that, or are you just wanting an answer from Yeezus?

A little of both I suppose. I think I could ask why you think giving in to our survival instinct is correct? But that's sort of like the second question, why is life valuable?

We could also go further and say that sometimes harming another does enable us to survive.
