"I Can't Breathe"

Are you embarrassed of your faith? Religion isn't private. I mean sure you can avoid declaring what your beliefs are if you wish. But if you truly hold them, they tend to have a public face or expression - that is if they are worth a damn.

we disagree

it should be private and shouldn't be put in gov't in anyway

I think you take religion more seriously than others.
"Are you embarrassed by your faith?" is such an ass question to me. Like, it sounds like something god asked someone in the bible when he showed up to them.

It's a stupid question because 1)I thought about that question and I don't know how to answer it, because the answer is "none." i don't follow one.

At least you're willing to admit that. I don't know why Goldie is too cowardly to come forward and state what he believes regarding religion.

It's a stupid question because 1) I don't find it germane to the "conversation" (if we want to call it that), and 2) some people are just not religious, the same way some people don't follow professional badminton. I thought about that question and I don't know how to answer it, because the answer is "none." i don't follow one.

1) I've just told you why it is germane. Religions have prescribed ethical systems. Those systems are at play in all discussions of "right" or "wrong." To think otherwise is silly.

2) Everyone is religious. What you mean is likely, not everyone believes in theism or any of the major religions. You don't follow none; you follow your own. Questions are: what is it? What moral code does it prescribe? And are you consistently holding it? If not, why not?

Why else would one want to keep their faith private?

1) Not if you don't have one.

2) Religion is not an inherent human thing, it is a created thing. No, there's no specific name that categorizes all of my beliefs. If you want to call my conscious a religion, then ok, whatever.

I don't know, why doesn't everyone feel the same way you do about everything?
Not everyone is "rah rah" about things they're into the way some are told to be about their religion, or sports teams, etc.

Everyone has one. Everyone has a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of life, their life and the things around them. Everyone has something(s) they are devoted to. Core ideas that motivate them, move them, are essential to them - for which they'll battle, give of their time, energy, resources, etc. A good word for that sort of set of beliefs is "religion." And you better believe it - it affects all these sorts of discussions.

How many U.S. Laws have been in place because of a religion other than christianity?

I don't know. Many certainly are consistent with a Christian ethic, and I for one, am glad. For instance, not bearing false witness, and not stealing, and not murdering, etc. Or, a governmental role in caring for the poor and needy. Lots of stuff like that.

lol. But there's no name for it. I don't have a name to give you. Yes, there are opinions I have about things.
You're basically saying that who a person is and their conscious is a religion in itself. I don't have a name to give you like you have for your branch of christianity. Yes, ask me how I feel about certain things and I will tell you. Ask about what I devote time to and I will tell you. But I don't call that religion, I call that me. I am not a religion.

Yes, but if it is integral to the things they advocate or consider wrong for the country why wouldn't they want others to know what that set of beliefs is? I mean, evidently they think it's good for society?

But what are those core beliefs? I'm just encouraging you to be self-aware. To consider what that set of beliefs is that you cherish - that affects what you think morally and especially why you think others should also think that way -act that way, etc.

P.S. There probably is a name for it.

NothingI believe is based on a religion. I don't follow a specific religion. You are not understanding any of this through the perspective of a person that isn't religious. I don't look at something that's wrong and say "oh, that's wrong because of this." They're wrong to me because I consider it unnecessarily detrimental to another person, or animal, or whatever. This isn't because of a religion.

You do follow a specific religion - your own. "They are wrong to me because I consider it unnecessarily detrimental..." is an inherently religious statement.
