Braves donate Justin Upton to Padres for prospects

Other than the rumored Walker thing, i dont see where we fit in this.

Gattis for Myers straight up makes no sense for SD.

Both players have the same service time and are super cheap. If the Pads think he can stick at catcher then he's certainly worth Myers. 20-30 homer catchers have a decent bit of value as well.

It isn't as lopsided as you might think. But again, it would be contingent on how the Pads view Gattis long term @ catcher. Hell, we reportedly asked for Ventura/Duffey from the Royals in exchange for Gattis, so we clearly think he holds quite a bit of value.

Yea there's no way we wouldn't take it. But there's zero chance that Gattis and Upton would bring back Walker and Myers for us. Just would never happen. I don't really see us being involved in this deal. Myers is more valuable then Upton on one year or just Gattis. Maybe if there were a deal that sent Justin to SD, Gattis and Hedges to TB, Myers and Wisler or Joe Ross to the Braves.

I don't see that happening either, I meant more that I certainly could see us being happy with such a return. Of course for both Myers and Walker to be involved that would take four teams being involved in the end rather than just three. However, I wouldn't rule us out yet as the third team involved in a three-team trade. It would make sense for us to target Myers, esp. if we cannot get someone like Walker from Seattle.

That said, I am not saying Justin Upton alone for our part would get such a deal done.

@TBTimes_Rays
Many questions about #Rays Myers deal, but no sense speculating yet on who ends up where w/out knowing if it's happening or how many teams

Per MLBTR:

DECEMBER 16, 12:02am: A big deal is in the works between San Diego and Tampa, but it will not go through until the morning at the earliest, Jim Bowden of ESPN.com tweets.

@JeffPassan
Sounds like one of the pieces in the proposed Wil Myers trade might be on the way to Washington, which has insinuated itself into the deal.
