Gattis Traded To Astros (pg. 13)

The reason we trade Kimbrell: 1- Closers have a short baseball life unless you're Rivera. 2- We are not going to win for 2 more years. 3- His stock is as high as it's gonna get.

The reason we keep Kimbrell: 1- Hart shocks us and signs Shields and Aoki and we're in it to win it in 2015.

I think I would have to agree with this. If someone would back the truck up for Kimbrel, if I'm Hart I have to pull the trigger.

Always makes more sense to trade a closer at the deadline. That is what Hart is going to do.

Would be awesome if Kimbrel got dealt and then came back to close a game out against the Braves in the postseason. He enters on the 8th inning of a close a game and gets 5 outs.

That being said, I wouldn't be that disappointed if Kimbrel is never traded. At some point we are going to be good again and it would be nice to have another legacy Brave.

It's pathetic that we're having to say that, and there's no reason it should have happened.

By no means we will be the late 70's and early Braves, but I see a lot of mid to late 80's Braves in this current team.

Hard to see the post season when you are in last place.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here but with the current rosters I don't see how any team in the NL East is hands down better then the Braves outside of Washington. Yes it's realistic that we could finish 4th but can someone explain to me how the Mets are definitely better? Marlins may have an edge on paper but let's not act like they have a great team.

If a few things break our way, we can finish in 2nd. I firmly believe that.

The Braves will trot out the worst everyday lineup in the division (maybe close with Philly). Do you think the rotation is better than the Mets?

Or maybe said another way, the Mets had the same record as the Braves last year and improved. Did the Braves?

Marlins do have a great team.

Pen is so-so, but.

Fernandez, Latos, Koehler, Alvarez, Cosart is a pretty good rotation.

1-8: Salty, Morse, Gordon, Hec, Prado, Yelish, Ozuna, and Stanton is a pretty good lineup.

Seriously have to be delusional to think we're better than them.

Mets finished with the same record as we did, but we lost JUp, Heyward, Harang, and Erv, while the Mets dont lose much but add Cuddyer and get Harvey back.

What have we done to improve?

Really? That lineup?
Morse could totally stink it up, he's an average player at best.
Gordon is total meh to me. .300 OBP guy.
Hec? Not very good.
Salty? Again, not good.
They could very easily have a worse lineup than ours (it also could be better).
But let's not act like that's definitely a good lineup, because it's not definite.

Yeah we should have kept both, watch both walk, and miss the playoffs and get nothing for them in return, awesome plan.

Or keep one which we have the money to do. And not take so long to get back to competing for a WC in two years. Guess we should trade all of our good players before they lose any value. Great plan.

Ok not great but i think they'll compete for a WC spot, good, not great, you're right.

If Fernandez comes back strong, they can compete with Wsh.

We had one of the worst lineups in baseball and traded two of our best hitters.

Im not saying theyre the 27 Yankees but thats still a better lineup than we have.

Although thats not really saying much.

They traded two players who were FA's to be.

I probably would have kept one but i can understand why they did it.

I don't see Miami competing with Wash....more like them competing with Mets and dependent on if their star pitchers can return or not. These two teams are probably battling to try to get 85 wins tops.
