Gattis Traded To Astros (pg. 13)

It does strike me as odd that our biggest problem was offense and we got rid of our three of our best 4 offensive players - probably 4 counting LaStella

Well two of them had to be traded so they didn't walk for nothing. LaStella isn't a guy that you aboslutely have to have and trading Gattis to the AL just made sense.

Do you not agree?

I didn't agree with the Heyward/Upton deals. But we've been down that road.

The Gattis trade makes sense after all of the nonsense proceeding it. But I really am sick of focusing on all the pitching.

AT LEAST WE SIGNED MARKAKIS WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Both are important. Pre-Wren we took tons of high risk guys. To name some Johnson, Devall, Evarts, Rasmus, Jones, Atilano, and could list others, and most of the time they didn't work out. You need a blend of high risk and low risk players.

Devall, Evarts, and Atilano were not high upside guys. Johnson was a joke of a pick. Unless the other team throws him batting practice fastballs he had no upside. Being able to hit the ball far means nothing if you can't hit rookie ball pitchers fastballs.

Thurman is a major college product who was drafted in the second round of 2013 ... 6-3, 225.

The Rangers are the other club that remains in the mix for Gattis if a deal with that Astros is not completed. #Braves

I would be really curious to see what the Rangers are willing to ante up.

Great move, there was no reason to keep him.

Sounds like they got a good haul too.

He's best suited for an AL team, and his stock would plummet if he stayed with the Braves and got hurt AGAIN.

I'm probably one of the biggest fans of Gattis on the board. But I know his limitations playing LF and his value is at it's absolute highest right now. We should cash in before he's exploited in the OF or gets hurt.

This x1000, it makes no sense to keep him.

I need thethe at my house when their is bad news or a death in the family. He would probably have me doing cartwheels in no time.

Why wouldn't someone be positive?

I've received a lot of bad news in my life sadly. Dwelling on the negatives is a losing proposition.

I'll tell you what...if the Rangers offer Mazara and just Mazara I'm taking hte Rangers deal.

I like Mazara too but I like getting some quantity too. You never know with prospects. Give me Mazara and two more prospects from the top 15-30 prospects of the Rangers atleast. If Those Other Prospects Just Turn I to A LOOGY and A decent bench bat that at least gives us some depth so went don't have to spend a few million to fill those spots.

Because John Hart has gutted a borderline playoff team with the promise that maybe, if the cards are right and the good lord willin, we will be good in 3-4 years. And in return, we've gotten a middle of the rotation guy and a bunch of prospects that may or may not work out.

JUp and Heyward werent re-signing.

Gattis needed to be traded.

These moves are fine, complaining about the returns is fair however.

But even if they kept them, at best they win 83 to 85 games and miss the playoffs, yippy.
