Gattis Traded To Astros (pg. 13)

I kinda don't like this deal for Houston if they play him in LF.

It's actually a really weird move for them in general.

Holding out hope that one of the names we haven't heard yet is Brett Phillips, but don't see how he wouldn't have been mentioned already if he was part of the deal.

I like the reported deal, though nervous about the physical. Real chance that the Astros could ask us to include a prospect . . . or even scuttle the deal.

I'm honestly confused about why the Astros are willing to do this deal given their roster already contains a zillion catchers and a full-time DH in Chris Carter. In my view, Gattis' value in LF is 0.5 to 1 WAR. His well-chronicled durability concerns may be helped a tad by playing in LF instead of C, but not much really.

What a joke it is to read some of these comments about Hart "finally making something..." Half of you were going psycho before the Winter Meetings.

There are still some teams that don't believe in WAR (Braves). If the Astros can get around 500 abs out of Gattis this year they could trade him and get a better return then what they gave for him. With his power he could put up some damage in that park. Inflated offensive numbers for sure but some team would bite.

Stopped caring awhile ago. We may challenge to have the worst offense in baseball history. So there is that.
