Holy **** that Scherzer contract. 7/210 is insane, the fact that it's another overpay they're deferring is confusing.

So from 2022-28 they'll be paying him 15M to not pitch for them. Similar to paying Raffy 3M from 2018-2024

Depends on if you think Scherzer will keep his dominance up.

Last 4 years Scherzer has a 117 ERA+ and 3.22 FIP For zimmermann 128 ERA+ 3.18 FIP. Scherzer is better, but not by a massive amount. Both are great. Scherzer is worth it more than ZImmerman, I'd pay neither of them that much. That's basically what Kershaw got paid, and he's not close to Kershaw, even if you say throw in a 20% factor for deferred money and his cost for nationals is more like 7/170 That's what King Felix got, he's not as good as King Felix.

Yes i do.

Check the numbers.

Zimmerman has been better than Scherzer the last 2 years, or at least not a huge gap.

And isnt gonna cost near as much.
 
I also want to point out that the early favorite for the #1 pick in 2016 played on a travel team coached/run by......... our new hitting coach.

No i dont think so.

Max is great, good pickup for you guys but i would have just paid Jordan that or whatever he wants, but thats me.

Kershaw and Felix are definitely worth more and have bigger contracts (though I think Felix should have gotten an even bigger deal):
