Braves Claim OF Eury Perez From Yankees

Braves claimed OF Eury Perez off waivers from the Yankees.
It's a good landing spot for the 24-year-old, as the Braves are lacking outfield depth following the trades of Justin Upton, Jason Heyward and Evan Gattis. Perez is a career .305/.360/.384 hitter in the minors and has plenty of speed. He should crack the Opening Day roster as a backup.

OF Eury Perez ranked among @BaseballAmerica's Top 25 #Nationals prospects (high as No. 7 in 2013) since 2010 - with 80 speed on 20-80 scale.

One of the few upsides to a season like the one we're facing is that you have a chance to safely evaluate fringe guys like this. The Indians were awful from 02-04, but they used those years to give a lot of overlooked players a ton of at-bats, and they ended up discovering that Casey Blake was a pretty solid player. Maybe Perez can steal enough bases and play good enough defense to justify a place on a big league roster. No reason at all we shouldn't figure that out this season.

I'd rather do this than see Gomes and KJ, honestly. Like I said in another thread, I'm gonna watch anyway.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what _____________ can do with less _____________ and more __________. Should be interesting.

Terrible signing. If the team is bound to be awful, can't they at least make an effort to find more guys with amusing names? I'm soooo sick of the Johnson, Wood and BJ jokes.
