As a neutral, I have to say that was an awesome game. I was on the edge of my seat for basically the entire 2nd half.

Atletico has Real's number. IIRC that's now 6 in a row in domestic play they haven't lost. Even the UCL championship it took til extra time to lose.

Of course it does. Ronaldo wins the poll because he's more in the now and today.

Short term memory people have. Not to mention all the Man City bandwagoners that were on the United bandwagon before City got oil money.

Well, I agree it's too short term, Ryan Giggs is for sure a better premier league player than Henry or Ronaldo.

Normally goals direct from corners are because of bad goalkeeping and them being beat on the near post. Short of having someone really tall or really smart marking the back post that's basically impossible to stop.

And higher in the standings.

Generally teams who have better goal differential win more games. Not always of course, as a team can have a few games over cushion their GD or hur it. Last year the top 5 in GD finisged top 5. Man U was the only high GD team to be out of place, usually that's the case.

Thanks bud, had no clue. Do the top 4 in GD go to Champions league or the top 4 in the standings?

Correlation. Spurs better hope Southampton hits the skids. United is getting ready to take off. They play Burnley, Swansea, and Sunderland for their next 3 league matches. Spurs meanwhile have Liverpool, West Ham, and Chelsea, no points are guaranteed there. Though they should at least get 1 from Liverpool and West Ham. Especially Westham since that's at WHL.

Yes, Spurs will likely wear down. Although they have great depth, I believe they've played the most games of any premier league club this year and the schedule makers did them no favor with Arsenal at home and Liverpool 3 days later. Beating Arsenal is worth the likely loss they have coming up tomorrow.

Anyone watch CIV beat Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations final? Horrible 129 minutes of scoreless, boring soccer, followed by an awesome penalty shootout that came down to the goalies having to shoot.

Schedule makers usually don't do teams favors. If you look at Man U they have a stretch where 5 of 6 matches are against Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton and City. And only 2 of them at Old Trafford.

Except for Chelsea, they never seem to have more than 2 tough opponents per 4 games. I guess Abramovich needs creative ways to spend his money for Chelsea now with FFP.

What was crazy about that was that Ivory Coast went down 2-0 after 2. It's almost impossible to come back after that. Their goalie deserves more than a few beers from his teammates.
