Braves Trade Deadline Rumors

Bob Nightengale mentioned the Braves for Phil Hughes along with the Nats. Not sure how serious he was, though

If Hughes wasn't a FA, I'd be interested but he is a FA after the year.

He has a 3.02 ERA away from Yankee stadium this year

If you put Hughes in a big ball park he would be good. Some NL team is going to get a good pitcher. I could see the Dodgers being all over that in the offseason.

With less than 90 minutes remaining, what do y'all think we do? Hasn't been many reports out there today with us involved.

I definitely think one more reliever is in our future.

I think Gregerson will be a Brave in the next hour.

DeRosa does not fit to the stated objective of getting a back up middle infielder who hits LH. Its been years since he played SS. We're covered in what he can do with Pastornicky and Terdo. Maybe on waivers after the rosters expand.

They were reporting we entered talks on Norris, but that appears to have fizzled. We probably didn't offer much but he's definitely on the block so why not put in a bid?

My thinking is if we could grab him, LH bench bat may not be a pressing need as long as we have a big lead.

If we went with 6-man bench in the postseason:

Laird
Gattis
Reed
Schafer
DeRosa
Terdo

Two lefties there.

I still say it's a mistake not getting a RH arm for the pen. It obviously can still happen after today but still a mistake.

Sort of gone off the rails with the Garcia/Terdo talk a bit. The fact still remains that the Red Sox, the team who got Peavy, did not give up very much. And they also got a good reliever to go along with Peavy.

Cherington did an amazing job providing both of the other teams what they wanted without giving up much himself. A real smoke-and-mirrors three-way.

Bowden just tweeted Gregeson not moving. But not the first time we've heard that today, and then heard otherwise later. With it being so quiet around Atlanta today, it just makes me think we will do something. FW always seems to swoop in and make the deal no one saw coming.
