Braves Trade Deadline Rumors

I think that's Garcia's ceiling. And I think Terdo has a similar ceiling as a switch hitter. Just talking about hitting here.

Terdo is 3 years older, 4 inches shorter, 40 pounds lighter and never been a top 100 prospect. Not sure how they are comparable.

The reason I bring up height and weight is, Garcia is 3 years young and can still be growing into his body and can possibly go from 20-25 to 30+ if his body fills out more.

Size doesn't really mean anything.. I'll give you the age thing. Plenty of big tall players didn't hit for much power at the major league level while smaller players have. Terdo has shown that he can hit for power (20-25 dongs) I'll give you the age thing, but Terdo is a switch hitter which gives him an edge. I just think Garcia is overrated and a fairly fungible prospect.

How is height and weight not important when talking about 21/22 year olds and development?

I didn't really state my point well. I was just saying that since Terdo has already shown power, it doesn't really mean much that he's smaller than what's his face. The power is there. I also think Garcia is pretty well filled out already. 6'4 at 240 isn't exactly Nerlens Noel. And nobody projects Garcia to be a big HR hitter.

I think there's a ceiling/probability of reaching ceiling equation in play here. I think Garcia's ceiling is higher, perhaps considerably, than Terdoslavich's, but given body type and limits on athletic ability there may be impediments for Garcia in reaching his ceiling. I think Terdoslavich projects as a useful corner OF/1B 200-250 AB guy and I think Garcia could (let me stress "could") be an average regular.

Uh, a lot of people project him to be a 20-25 HR guy.

Not sure that's big but he projects to have good power.

Gregerson not in Kennedy deal. But would the Padres deal Thatcher and Gregerson today? Still hoping for Gregerson or Delabar.

You might be right about Terdo being underrated and Garcia overrated, but would the GM of the White Sox see it the same way. If not then we could not have topped the offer they had in hand by offering Terdo. Now I do think they would have preferred Alex Wood to Garcia. But I wouldn't offer Wood for Peavy. Would you?

What do people not like about Terdo?

Who said we didn't like him? Weso is trying to compare him to a top 100 prospect....that's not Terdo. I think Terdo could will be a fine bench bat, fill-in at corners when someone is hurt....Eric Hinske type (Which I would sign up for). But he doesn't have the potential of a Garcia.

Sort of gone off the rails with the Garcia/Terdo talk a bit. The fact still remains that the Red Sox, the team who got Peavy, did not give up very much. And they also got a good reliever to go along with Peavy.

Would like it!
But they would never do it!
And the price for us will be way to high, I think!

I mean it won't be Downs cheap, but I cant' see the price being outrageous for a RP and backup. Maybe 2 or 3 prospects. I could see a Martin/Gilmartin type and then 1 to 2 more lesser guys.
