ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL DAY

By all means enjoy the beats and the rhymes. I just took umbrage with the remark that we don't understand the music. My response is that I would wager that none of us who post on this board truly understand it either.

Exceptfor race, I think we all can relate to Yeezy, being middle class and suburban.

you don't understand the music, OR what I'm saying.

you don't understand what makes a song good vs. what makes one bad. i didn't say i relate to everything they say and what they've been through. that is...not at all the point. i know more about the music and what distinguishes a good rap song vs. a bad one because i'm quite sure i listen to it a lot more than you. you can't comprehend that i didn't say i related to the music? again, understanding =/= relating. understanding is about the music as a whole.

the very fact that you have this idea that all rap is about growing up in the streets is evidence enough that you don't know what you're talking about. there is a lot of rap about a lot of different things. some of it i relate to, some of it i don't. but considering i'm much more familiar with the genre as a whole, i understand the genre better. it's really not this complicated. you understand NBA basketball more than me because you watch it a lot more. you "played basketball" but not at the NBA level SO HOW CAN YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT MAKES AN NBA PLAYER GOOD????? that's the same point you're making with me. it's just a stupid one.

back to the song, the beat goes in towards the end there. wish that was more present all throughout, but maybe that's what makes it so good.
c2c, you should keep listening. it grows on me more each time. great work out song, anyway.

What makes you think that you have spent more years of your life listing to rap music than I have?

BTW this whole idea of relating is dumb. You all should stop it. And comparing relating to emotion of music to understanding basketball is really dumb.

I'm not a punk who grew up in the 70s/80s in the UK but I can appreciate the quality of Anarchy in the UK or London Calling even if I'm not from England at all.

That being said, people who're overprotective of music, are also dumb. It's art, it's all opinion based, you can love it but you don't have to defend it to the death. I get a chuckle about how hard Yeezus defends Yeezy. Like someone not liking him is an affront to his moral fabric.

I listen to a ton of old and new, current hip-hop. You do not. You said as much yourself. You don't listen to hip-hop anymore.

Where am I defending Kanye in this thread?

Repping Andre 3000 but not Big Boi? That's dirty.

Also, Jigga has gone super stale. He hasn't done anything great in years.

Big Boi is alright, Outkast is obviously awesome but I'll take Dre over BB.

I'm not huge on Jay-Z but I'll take Reasonable Doubt over pretty much everything.

Lupe is the only mainstream rapper worth a damn anymore. Nas too, but he doesn't do much anymore

Even Eminem has gone nuts into the one liners rather than lyrical flow.

I am a big fan of the Australian rap artists.

As someone who listened to the album Yeezus for a solid 6 months after it came out and MBDTF is in my top 10 favorite albums of all time, in general, a big fan of Kanye, I don't like this version of Kanye.

The best Kanye is the weird Kanye.

I would personally add Kendrick to that list of mainstream rappers who are good.

Can't think about Outkast without thinking of Killer Mike who has somehow turned himself into one of the most thoughtful and progressive people in hip hop.

I'm not a big fan of Yeezus...some songs I really, really like, but most I can do without.

Case in point why arguing music is the dumbest possible conversation. It's all taste.

Bad music doesn't exist with exception to Limp Biskit. Limp Biskit is bad.

I agree on the whole, I just take issue with it when someone says "So-and-so sucks" because a lot of times they don't.

Creed too, though. They sucks.
So you're saying you really like Yeezus? Easily my least fav of his.

If you count Watch the Throne I would put it after College Dropout and before Graduation.
