Hector Olivera signs with the Dodgers

"In a late-breaking move, free agent Cuban infielder Hector Olivera has fired trainer (and negotiation representative) Rudy Santin, MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez reports on Twitter. Replacing him will be veteran agent Greg Genske of the Legacy Agency, according to a tweet from Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports."

Not sure what this means for us, but worth noting. Looks like our Santin connection is gone.

Just conjecture, but it may point to offers not being where he believed they would be??? I have no idea.

Keith Law just tweeted that executives have called this a **** show. Poorly handled by his representation.

Maybe it means nothing, but that kind of rubs me the wrong way. Maybe this will only further drive down his price.

#Braves have a few other strong middle-infield prospects, and are pursuing Cuban Olivera.

Finally he gets the scoop that we ARE in pursuit.

I'll say.

I feel some sympathy for Olivera, since this is probably his only chance for a big payday. I suppose he's going to be set for life regardless.

Olivera firing Santin who was our connection probably doesn't help us but hopefully it won't hurt us either. I hope we can get something done with Olivera soon.

That said, I don't trust DOB to know what's going on, when was the last time he broke a deal of any note? As I recall even a few he small ones he got credit for someone else told him about rather than Brave sources.

Apparently Santin and his guy also repped Alex Guerrero, but they aren't certified so Guerrero had to go with Boras.

Santin previously repped Alexander Guerrero, but was not certified by union so Guerrero had to go with Boras, who did deal with #Dodgers…

With Olivera, Santin acted as trainer while Manny Paula served as agent. Other agents were suspicious of arrangement. Union was monitoring.

So it likely means little. Glad he didn't jump to Boras. That's slightly encouraging, right?

(sorry for all of these)

Olivera’s reps were telling teams they expected deal to be $70M-plus. Unclear if that claim prompted change. Genske far more discreet.

Maybe that figure was scaring teams off and actually driving down offers.

Heard Hector Olivera spent several days last week with the Dodgers. A lot of evidence they're one of the favorites: http://bit.ly/1x4JZHn

if the ****ing dodgers sign him i'm blowing up their stadium.

What is your deal with the Braves GF? You just seem very negative lately about all things.

I still believe that you are a fan but its just strange to me.
