I don't know about that, but I'm certain he won't be able to resist EY in the top spot.
Fred may switch Peterson and Simmons in 2 hole. But this is what I expect from Fredi.

They've released a ton of players lately (something like 25-30 minor league names mostly). It seems part of it is that they're still clearing out Wren's boys to make room for others.

Yeah, me too. He may not have a spot long-term with the Cubs, but I expect that Maddon will get him in the lineup if he earns a shot.

That's the strange dynamic, if Uggla were still here. There would still be calls for his release, although I would say Freddie wouldn't mind having him hit behind him. Maybe some point the Nats will need the roster spot. We may as well pick him up since we are paying him anyway. We could then slide Peterson to third after dealing Johnson.

At this point, it would make sense to keep Uggla in the same way it makes sense to keep BJ. Nothing left to lose by playing them. But since we already released him, the only way I would want him back is if he agreed to a strict platoon. Uggla/Peterson and Johnson/Johnson.

MLBTR: "The Marlins have placed Rule 5 lefty Andrew McKirahan on waivers, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports on Twitter. McKirahan can be claimed by any team, but will be offered back to the Cubs if he makes it through waivers.
The 25-year-old has had plenty of success in the minors and reached Double-A last year with the Chicago organization. He seemed to have a reasonable chance at earning a role in the Miami pen, but it appears that the Fish will instead roll with Brad Hand as a second lefty. Reviews have been positive, so it would not be surprising to learn that another club intends to give McKirahan a look."

I like this guy too. He's got some jaw-dropping reverse splits in the minors at every stop. You'd pretty much need to use him as a ROOGY, but he could be one hell of a ROOGY.
