There is no way in hell you should get death penalty for piping in crowd noise.

I agree, but a team shouldn't get the death penalty for paying players an extra 500 bucks for making big plays. If you treat this the same way then couldn't piped in noise lead to injuries because players can't hear? There's also potential hearing loss. Yeah those things can happen without the noise but so can an injury happen from a legal hit.

Injuries related to potential hearing loss?

You may have an argument for a stricter penalty for the Falcons, but that certainly isn't one.

They weren't given the death penalty for "making big plays."

They were given the death penalty because paying players to make hard legal hits could potentially lead to an injury. All player suspensions were overturned because they had zero proof that the players acted upon the supposed bounty to injure players.

If we are going to apply the logic that a system that promotes legal hard hits can lead to injuries then why not noise? If a player can't hear an approaching player maybe he doesn't protect himself enough and gets a concussion from a big hit.

Come on, at least be honest. At the very least, the Saints violated the law by paying players bonuses that were outside of their contracts.

But, you and I know what they did was encouraged players to injuring opposing teams players. That was their intent. Whether or not they actually injured anyone or whether or not they were penalized for their hits is a moot point. The Saints set up a bounty program to reward players for injuring opposing teams players.

Williams specifically told his players to go after Crabtrees ACL.

I will address this when I get home so I can add quotes from outside this site but let me ask you this. Has anyone ever been punished for piping in noise before? The Packers and Patriots were both fined 25k for running a bounty system. Reggie White was even on the cover of SI talking about the Packers "Smash for Cash" system. Tagliabue cited this as one reason he vacated all player suspensions. You would be pissed too if the Falcons got a disproportionate penalty compares to other teams.

This brings it back to the original topic about why you would be pissed about the Falcons only being penalized a 5th rounder. No one in the past has ever been penalized for artificial crowd noise so what grounds would you have to claim the penalty was light?

What the Falcons did isn't even comparable to the Saints. I'm not even referring to the morality of either. I mean it across analogical grounds. The two infractions are completely different.

The Patriots and Packers were fined 25 k for running a bounty system. This is cited by Tagliabue as inconsistent punishment when he vacated the players suspensions. The head of the NFL PA says Goodell's mishandling of Bountygate was more divisive with players than even the lockout.

That's fine, but what does it have to do with the Falcons. Or do you just want to use this as a basis to offer your hot take?

Thought it was wack that Romo/Witten/Garrett are parading around as Duke fans. What is their affiliation with Duke?

I think it's different than Rodgers/Wisconsin since he has been a Wisconsin resident/face of the State for half his life.

If Wiitten/Romo aren't supporting their alma maters, why aren't they supporting Texas schools?

May be Garrett/Romo is close friends with Coach K, or someone else involved with the University?

Really, who cares why they are there, other than you apparently?

The fact that others team may have done this doesn't make it less despicable.

Can someone explain to me this thing with the Browns GM? He texted someone on the sidelines during a game? I don't understand what the issue is here.

It's totally against the rules. You cannot communicate by text to the sidelines. Whether what you're communicating about is relevant to the game or otherwise. Browns GM got ****ed for basically wanting SHanahan to start playing Johnny Manziel earlier.
